Our friend is on his way back to Italy now that the Olympics are over. His foil fencer took gold so for all of you non-Olympic athletes take note

Since Olympic fencing is over ( is there any other Olympic sport?), our friend is back in Italy chillin so at 4 am we dropped Lance off at LAX for his flight to Milan to visit our friends and perhaps do some training. Lance was supposed to help with a fencing camp near Milan next week but that conflicted with the move in for Gonzaga. So being in Italy for a week and not working or competing will be hard for Lance to endure but that is life.

Well as long as Alex keeps his audio gear packed in boxes and not scattered around the living room, marital bliss will prevail.

Woohoo! Lance's former coaches helped their fencers win gold and bronze in Men's foil. Both of the fencers, Alex and Cheung have trained with Lance at the club and been over to the house for BBQ dinners prior to Covid happening. I firmly believe my tritip had a play in those results.

Watching now. Funny thing, one of the Mexican fencers who got a great camera shot on him in the opening ceremonies trained with Lance at the club and stayed with our friends during the summer training camp. Great guy very friendly and humble. And Katie Holmes the women's Epee fencer fencing now, fenced Lance at a camp a few years ago.

Well the Tokyo Olympics will start this Friday and even though Lance is no longer fencing I thought I might share a piece with you explaining some of the basics of the sport should you consider watching the USA fencers in action. The video was shot at Lance's former fencing studio; the fencer Ysaora trained with and fenced Lance multiple times and Lance would occasionally beat her. At the 5 minute mark you will see our friend and Lance's coach Maurizio who Lance will be visiting in Italy next Month. Ysaora is France's number one foil fencer and projected to medal. Mixed emotions here I gotta say... Fencing 4 U
