Mackie HR624/824 are great powered monitors. Sounds less like a pro audio monitor and more like an audiophile speaker. LFF has a pair iirc. and the Audioengine 5s are great speakers for the price. I definitely recommend them over the M-Audio bx5a that I had before.

imo, I would skip the 225 and go straight to the MS-2is. Theres such a big difference between the two in terms of bass response and tonality.

I have the MS-2 (which supposedly sounds very similar to the ms-2i) right now and it sounds fantastic in its price range. It doesn't have the frequency jumps (the sound doesnt feel coherent over the whole spectrum) that the lower end grados have and is slightly more bassy then the other grados as well. I know chekonte has a pair of the ms-2is and postjack had the ms-2is for a while too so you might want to ask them for more detailed impressions.

Got the RE-02s today. For $50, the kick major ass. I think they changed the design from my first pair to get more bass (which it needed imo). The soundstage is great for an IEM. It actually extends outside the phones, which the im716 doesnt do at all without an amp. But, there is a slight buzzing on the left earphone so I'm going to try to get them replaced.
