  1. Happy birthday
  2. Yeah, that's it. I can't wait for it or anything else by Stover. I'd love to see more of Deliann/Kris in it, too.
  3. fucking sweet! I never thought I'd run into another Stover fan. last I heard, third book should be released this upcoming summer if all goes to plan.
  4. Rereading my two favorite books, Heroes Die and Blade of Tyshalle by Matthew Woodring Stover...about a sixth of the way through Blade of Tyshalle.
  5. Yeah, it's not bad, really. I'm not a big fan of the KSC-75, though, but it's good enough for what I use it for that I can't be bothered to change it.
  6. I started out '07 with a portable rig. Now I don't have anything portable (minus a shuffle and KSC-75) and have lots of home equipment, much of which has changed several times, including going through 4 sources, 4 amps, and many many pairs of headphones. Currently using Opus -> Beta22 -> RS-1
  7. Nice stuff. I got all my hardware from mcmaster carr, minus the threaded rods. Got the MDF at HD.
  8. Yeah, I'm not really super picky, either. I'd love to pick up the ultra micro to compare with my Opus, but I'd be almost afraid to like it more. My rig is single-ended right now, and I don't think balancing brings the amount of improvement most think it does, but I'd hate to not have the option down the line without using a balancing transformer or the like. I'm also not the most fond of having to use a 1/8" to rca cable. I'd ask Headroom if they'd make another exception and sell me a max board like the one in your Hersten Signature DAC, but I probably don't have the rep to swing it.
  9. Looks like it. I made a very similar rack, but I didn't go to those lengths to treat it...Salt Peanut's should turn out nicely
  10. I still haven't really seen any impressions on the Ultra Micro. Anyone out there spent some time with one (or a Max DAC in any form)?
  11. I've got work and snow. Woe is me.
  12. figured someone would say something like this. I obviously disagree, and we have different taste in our music, so no point in arguing it. I have to be honest and say that I've only heard of two bands on your list, both in the flops section (Darkthrone and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum). I'll have to see what style the other bands you listed are as I love a variety of stuff (just prefer math, grind, deathcore, etc.) Just got back from picking up 6 cd's, all from this year, many of which I would bet belong in the best of '07 (a fantastic year for metal, for my taste): Devin Townsend - Ziltoid Animosity - Animal War from a Harlot's Mouth - Transmetropolitan Job for a Cowboy - Genesis Suicide Silence - The Cleansing The Agony Scene - Get Damned (at least i think that's the title)
  13. haha, yeah, my stupid ass will find a way to fuck it up, though eventually i'll want something a bit better looking (fiancee approval factor), so I'll have to come up with something decent at some point, still probably simple though (use lots of that acoustically transparent cloth stuff).
  14. I'm getting a pair of Silver Iris 15" coax drivers out of a trade...probably not the greatest thing in the world, but it will do for now, especially given my speaker n00bness. I'll have to come up with a baffle for it, though D:
  15. Yeah, at our mini-meet a bit ago, we compared Opus w/ Ballsie versus E5 w/ zap and they were remarkably similar.
  16. I love my Opus, but I'd put something else together if I thought it'd be better (without being ungodly expensive). I've considered getting a Pico and using that (ludicrous as it sounds), but I'd hate to use a 1/8" to RCA cable.
  17. Sorry for the confusion...I've got the amp-building part handled. It's the actual speakers that I don't know too much about
  18. I really don't know what type...I really know almost nothing about the speaker world. Budget is pretty small right now, so I'll probably pick up something cheap in the interim...eventually, maybe $1k a decent beginner pair.
  19. lol, I suppose I am I was figuring I'd probably need to use some fullrange drivers for their efficiency.
  20. The conservative figure for wattage is 50wpc for balanced operation. 18wpc is it for single-ended, I think.
  21. I've decided to put together a B22 as speaker amp, but when it comes to speakers, I'm pretty clueless. I'm building it single-ended, so I can expect 18wpc. That seems wimpy compared to a lot of other amps, but the math, from what I can tell, says that should be enough for reasonably efficient speakers in a medium sized room. What kind of speakers am I looking at with this kind of power?
  22. Cool, thanks luvdunhill
  23. Yeah, I'm not much a fan of the TDA's, but the design is intriguing enough for me to wonder... I'll probably stick with the Opus for now, since it's tits, but I'll always keep my ear to the ground for something new.
