It's a game I want to play, I'm just so bogged down with everything I don't think I'll ever get a chance to.

Bands you don't get that everyone else seems to like

Yeah, there was that one track that I was liking (the one where you thought there was a sound everyone heard but was just in headphones. the killer bass track was cool just because of the huuuuuge bass)...it's just every other time I've listened to Massive Attack I just don't really get what's special about them. I'm certainly far from an expert on Jazz, but fusion is one of the few sub-genres of it that I remotely like...Dave Weckl being my favorite from what I've heard. lol, x2 -

Oh man, looks like a forgot a few. I don't get the Rolling Stones or Grateful Dead or Massive Attack or Flaming Lips or Radiohead, either. There are some others mentioned here that I've never even heard (like Phish or Portishead or Scott Walker). x2 on this. I got into metal and hardcore and prog because the actual music, for me, is worlds better than most stuff out. The vocals are generally an acquired taste, and now that I've acquired it I couldn't imagine anything different. Blasphemy! Ok, I can understand why some people don't get it. It took me a while to get it, but once I did, I was glad I took the time. -

^x2 about Opeth. I love them, but they're not a favorite. I also like Dream Theater, but less than Opeth. As far as bands I don't get: almost anything mainstream (I know that's probably a given). I don't get most female vocal music, either, especially Norah Jones (I think her voice is pretty ugly, actually). There are a lot of metal and hardcore bands that a lot love that I don't get, either. Hatebreed, for example. Or Throwdown. Metal and hardcore make up ~80% of my music, but there's a lot of it I just don't understand people liking (but of course I'm sure a lot of metal lovers would say the same about the stuff I listen to ). -
Ha, we have one of those here. I managed to get in with no formal training based on a good recommendation...the company's glad they took it.

x2 on everything you said, boomana.

What is your current project, or what will be your next project?

I've been thinking of using that circuit for the CCS in my tube headphone amp planned in the future, but I'll probably just go with a simple cascode of 10m45's for now. -

What do you think of "markl Mod for Denon AH-D5000" thread?
fierce_freak replied to purk's topic in Headphones
He has mentioned that several times throughout his thread on HF, early on, so I can't say he's pulling a trose. -
I've never heard of them, I'm American and love football. I've only ever watched the NFL, though. I do watch college games, but I don't understand what's going on so it's harder to follow. What is bcs short for?
-
I have a pair of NOS 6H30's, but in my search for my set of tubes, I ran across some 8-pin 6H30's, too...I think.
-
Can you make a saving throw ?
-
I've never really followed college football because I never took the time to understand it (too many different bowls and divisions), but I've been more interested in it lately. I still haven't bothered to figure out what the difference is between the Big 10 or the Big 12 or any other label I don't understand, but the games are fun to watch.

I was going to go with the hammonds, but aerius' suggestion to use a toroid intrigues me. I've read about a couple applications where they work well on output. Of course, if I like the sound enough, I could end up getting a set of better output transformers like Elecra-Prints or Lundahls.

I'm actually planning on the Less-pressivo with a 6H30, and I'm using RS-1's. I just asked about thoughts on this schematic as it's similar in idea to the Less-pressivo.
-
Anyone else have an opinion on the circuit?
-
Happy birthday, Jay...hope you have a good one!
-
Any other thoughts on the circuit? I'm planning a very similar build for my first tube amp with CCS instead of chokes for the plate load.
-
Depending on date, I'd love to make it up to the Great North for a meet.
-
I know it's probably out of your budget, but I'd love to see more folks with the Luna, as what impressions I've read have been pretty positive.
-
There are only subtle differences between the two, based on my listening impressions from the mini-meet philodox mentioned. I thought they sounded a touch more dry (I think Jay used the term clean), but really not big enough of a difference to own both.
-
Yeah, I think Directors and Actors contracts are up in June or July, so I think it's likely we'll see another strike then.
-
I'm just glad we can tweak the sound...some people swear by flats (I was one of them with the lower end Grados), others go with the bowls (like I do now). On my setup with my music, the bowls are a better choice for me. I understand the appeal of the flats, though...who doesn't love some bass in ya face 4eva, word.
-
I support it, but it sucks as far as delays and the like go for the two shows I watch (Lost and BSG)...especially for those shows, as they are far more serialized than most of the shit on TV.
-
Yeah, that's true. None of the systems I've heard it on for extended periods sounded better with flats than bowls, though. That only includes Jay's, Renato's, and my system, though. Me, either. I've never really understood any of the comfort complaints with Grado 'phones, including the metal Grados, and I wear glasses.
