Actually not... I went with a friend cause he wanted to demo B&O's big costly speakers and we demo'd both the Krell and the B&0 stuff the same day. I carried in a few reference discs with me and demo'd the B&0 stuff when I had to tell the salsemen the channels where wrongly set..then I had to prove it to them in another setup using Duke Ellingtons blues in orbit track 7 where the stand up bass comes from the right speaker and not the left.. My friend was laughing at the time and asked what kind of place demo's $20k speakers and has the channels wrongly set? then we went over to the Krell section..oh boy this get better.. first off the room (if you can call it that) the Krell setup was in has no wall on the back and left of the room, its open to the main corridor in the huge ass abt store...I asked the salemen that was going to demo the Krell stuff if there was anyway to close the walls off cause their was way tomuch noise coming in from the open walls (it was bad...worse then the worest headphone meet you can think of), but of course he said theirs no way to do it..great way to start a demo off huh? so the Krell speakers were placed rite up against the back wall with a huge entertainment stand in between, I asked the salesmen if he could place the speakers out alittle so the middle stand wouldnt block the center image..he says no cause the cable for the speaker wire was not long enough at the time but they were working on it...nice! Kevin would you like me to go on about how one of the channels went out? or how one of the rca's were not plugged in and I had to tell the salesmen and show him he had static and a cutting out in the KRELL sound setup at abt? nice.. oh btw, This abt is the same place I had to wait for an ipod video and complain and cancel my order then on the way home picked up one nice and easy at circuit city.. at abt they dont know shit buddy, and they are hurting Krell hardcore!

Tweeter almost killed Sonus Faber also...and really put a hurt on MIRAGE to. KRell is fucking up the same way now cause they are selling their gear thru ABT

I started out last year around the same time now. I was planning or should I say putting it off until the end of last summer. One day on the phone with Ray I was told that Reyman was getting into it I figured "might as well do it now". I looked around for a few players and what not for a good beginner setup and found the Rega to be the best and cheapest used way to go (if you already have a g08 in your rig you must caution other sources quality before you buy). I phoned Ray to ask him how he likes his Rega and he told me he is selling his (he just got the VPI HRX in) and gave me a great price so I took it. btw: I have a VPI scout coming in soon and will be selling Rays old Rega..lol anyway I have learned a lot about Vinyl and the whole Idea of it with my time using the Rega. At one point I felt the Rega was not sounding like it did and fell out of the vinyl world. I bought and changed the belts and WOW it was amazing...such a stupid little thing could make so much of a change? with Vinyl it happens. another thing to think about is the relationship of the Cartridge to the arm/table. I have a Grado Sonata brand new sitting here cause it does not go well on the Rega/Grace combo I have..$500.oo cart just sitting and doing nothing (its going on my scout soon). the Turntable makes a change every time you move it, pick it up to clean underneath and you have to check all the settings on it cause there's a chance something moved or changed. another thing about vinyl is keeping up the clean side of the records and turntable/cartridge. at first I didn't want to spend the money for a Record cleaner..yeah after the first 20 lps I bought I knew I had to. The price of the record cleaner,new sleeves,jackets,brush's,cartridge cleaners,fluid to clean the records ads up at first but pays off huge in the end. look to spend $1000 or under on this stuff after you get a few records (does not have to be bought all at once..don't worry). now the good part and the real part of Vinyl.... you ever hear how the Meridian g08 is as close as one may come to having a cdp sound like Vinyl? its a $4,400 cdp also... the Rega I have kills the g08..and I mean slaughters it in every fucking little thought one can think of sonically. its not the Rega as much as its the actual vinyl way of sound. its soooo deep and lovely dude you'll float on a cloud of pure beauty. Vinyl kicks the shit out of CD's any day any time any setup..(that's comparing a $500 table to a $4,400 cdp btw). Vinyl is so sonicly better its worth all the work and plus some. the fun of buying the vinyl! in Chicago I have about 5-6 used record shops within a 15min drive from me and more shops little down the road. of course Chicago is known for it so it would depend on what's avail in your town. Buying vinyl is actually easier then buying cd's in my neighborhood. so for me its a walk in the park picking up new vinyl (or to me new..lol) anytime. when you vinyl shop its something so different then buying cd's, you buy records cause of the album cover looks this way of that way..then you go home and you could have a dud or a gold mine of music. you can buy Vinyl in bulk collections and that's month of playing and listening within itself alone. To me is it worth it?...fuck yeah! but Vinyl takes more time to clean and this and that then cd, so when I listen to vinyl I plan on spending a few hours with my rig to sit back and enjoy..oh..speaking of which today is sunday..speaker day. my amps are warmed up and I got a few new records to go threw now..ttyl

Justin put me down for some of the gilmore Modules before you run dry..I will pay the cost also. can you compare (with respect to both of course..) the highs or the overall sound between the two? what were you aiming for as far as sonics off headamp's modules that would differ from the gilmore sound? mosfets? are those the thingys used in the m3 design?...dumb question I know but I firgure I ask..to lazy to look it up..lol have you done any pre amp listening with the new modules or just all headphone use when designing them? thanx...

OMG 15hours in on them and OMG...they are coming out..holy shit.. Ok these are the 15hour impressions..cause they deserve it. the bass bloomed out more, a lot more. at first the gs1000 had bass like my w5000's or the sony sa5 i heard..its there but nothing to place it you know? the bass just happens. well now the bass is there, not only that its weird cause its on a three level way of coming out..or it seems. the bass can come from the lower,mid,higher up on the ear pad..weird. I am still getting a whisper lip effect when the bass comes from heavy tracks..but less of it. I heard rumors this will clear up once more hours get tacked on. the sound stage.. image your sitting in a huge room and instead of listening to the music you see the sonic's fly not only around you but in circles at different highs...that's close to what i got now off the gs1000. Then again its only 15 hours man...that's crazy. I have the w5000's completely their last 3 days of burn in and then the gs1000 goes in the room for burn in. I might hook up another source/amp to burn both in..not sure yet. I can tell you this... after burn in either I will completely dislike them and think their worthless or they will come out above any can grado ever sold...not sure which one it is cause its to early to tell.

WEll their out of the box for me so please take these impressions with a grain of salt. but having received so many Grados new I can come up with a fair "out of the box" comparo..lol these sound to me like John wanted the 701 sound, cause these are reminding a lot like them..only with little grado sound to it. I would take a guess if you like the 701 sound you'll like these also...big time. usually Grados out of the box are very forward and fun, a addicting type of fun in your face sound..but these are not. these are easy and laid back, reminds me of the g08 compared to the 588 difference. the other grados are the 588 with a great sound but throwing everything in your face, the g08 just lays all the sound on the table and lets you pick from what you want to focus on. that's how the gs-1000's are to me now (8:12pm first day..lol). I can talk about brightness cause I am not sure if its me not used to the padding or the un burned in sound of them now..their not silver 325 bright that's for sure but their not dark and sonic covering as the rs-1's. they are very weird for a GRado can...Can not put my finger on it now but they remind me of the 701 for some reason a lot...lot lot the bass now to me is the biggest difference, not a impact in your face bass, its not at all like that. the reason why I said these need to be played at certain volumes cause they give up at anything higher, just the air threw your lips sound on bass parts if the volume is to high. 5687.. I dont think you have to worry about playing them to loud, you know I like my headphones at very very high levels, your sound to me is a mid/low volume to me..youll be fine with these headphones at that..easily. oh the leather on the headband is different then the rs-1/rs-2 i have seen or have now..the rs-1 is a soft and dull leather, the leather on the gs1000 is shiny and hard..almost like my black 325 headband leather..the headband seems to be more supported in the padding dept also. p.s. no spell check..lol

oh they dont like to be played loud...not at all...if you play them to loud it sounds like a vibration when you blow air threw your lips... must turn them down! guys that like their sound on low volumes these are the cans for you!

I just got mine in 10mins ago...listening to them now..106 dude..lol anyway I can say I will be posting a thread here and headfi with pics of gs1000,rs1,rs2,hf1,ms2,flats-bowls-c pads- lol they are weird to me though... they depend on the placement! big time! want more bass then move them up sort of shit. weird grado phones....really weird

I would say...this imo That either most people can not possbily try every amp out there, if they can have enough time on it to get a fair judgemement, or pass the lower or higher priced gear just because its out of their budget..

I hope so Jahn... the rs-1 is nice but my least fav Grado can..to damm wild. If he can get some ps-1 with little rs1 it would be nice..of course the comfort will be nice also.. hopfully I should get them in tomorrow or the next day...yayyyyy

If there anything like the rs-1 i am going to rip them a new ass! but if they really are a big change in a different rs1 direction it should be all good! of course given the time frame and all, i should have them at a cincci meet if i can get off of work so you can play with them all you want..lol
