  1. Totally agree. It'll be fun pounding asshat extraordinaire Rich Rodriguez and the Michigan whores up in the Big Outhouse this year. I mean, hopefully that's what will happen...
  2. Played at a football game in heavy rain, including marching the pregame show for the first time, completely cold. Fun
  3. Cheshire can go suck it. Damn snobs. Here's a kind of out there suggestion: Minneapolis area. My fiancee is from there, and I've loved the feel. Everyone's so nice, there's a great balance of city/suburb, wide open spaces, etc. It just clicks well.
  4. Stacy, Every time you brag about being a Northwestern engineering student the way you apparently do (which is news to me, as I haven't been on Head-fi), it does an incredible disservice to the university and is pretty damn insulting to your fellow students. Your actions impact your peers, too. If you want to talk about overenthusiastic business ventures or sudden reality checks, ask me sometime about stuff I played around with in high school or a wonderful letter I received from the university after freshman year. In some ways, I've been where you are, so maybe we can talk. Also, I'm curious how Nic and Jon got involved in this (I assume its them), but that can be left for that time too. Anyway, game tomorrow. You should be there. 'Cats win. Please take all of this seriously. Lurk more. Listen to people. Reread the advice posts in this thread carefully. Not sure what else to say right now. Matt
  5. The Northstar toploader is pretty sweet.../fanboi
  6. Last day of work today Band camp on Monday, classes start two weeks from then
  7. I actually like CA a lot, and I do hope it does well. But, with absolutely so much packed into the digital end of this thing (which conveniently pads the spec sheet), combined with the $400 pricetag, there isn't much room left for the rest of the unit.
  8. It's nice to see DACs in this form factor and price range, but I hope it actually pans out because if its being marketed as a computer DAC and has a stand for a "gamer" config, they might not pay attention to such trivial things as the analog output stage...
  9. Watched the first half of Office Season 4 on DVD last night
  10. Here's a start: take off the KICAS logo, integrate the text of the name of the amp into the other sticker with the Purity Audio logo. YMMV, IMHO, etc., but that would make it look better to me, at least. Maybe fool with the locations of parts if possible, the power switch doesn't need to be soldered to the board directly, etc...
  11. That's completely not the point. With some careful thought and design you can come up with something that looks better with little to no extra cost. You can be cost-effective and reliable and Spartan-looking without looking "cheap".
  12. That's worded oddly...if it only picks up stuff in the Omnibar, then its just like Google tracking your searches (which it does already), plus also tracking direct URLs you enter. Passwords and forms wouldn't be included.
  13. The success of the Purity Audio stuff begins with the name. Find something different- if you want to stay within your theme, call it KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid), because that's somewhat recognizable, and it rolls off the tongue well. Details matter, and the "oh so extreme pure signal paths like whoa" thing can only take you so far.
  14. Yup. Although I've been working in Evanston for the summer. BTW, deja vu
  15. I never did Philmont, and I still regret that Eagle Scout FTW
  16. If we're talking about expanding budgets, the Cain Wall of Sounds (designed by Gordon Rankin of Wavelength Audio) look really interesting. Supposedly do bass for a single driver, but that's the designer's claim. There's a used listing here that probably isn't still available, but what the heck. Hornshoppe Horns fall in the budget... Edit: both suggestions are probably worthless vs. already having the Cicadas...
  17. Ridiculously good, or at least a totally POS Javascript scroll I had to implement was freaking buttery smooth. Other benchmarks out there show really significant time differences, but I don't know how riggsed they are.
  18. But it's Google, so it's OK. I will say the one thing that really should get developers going is the absolutely ridiculous Javascript performance. Hopefully that'll light a fire under some people. The sandboxed tabs are also cool, but the JS has more immediate relevance.
  19. There are some comments on the EQ over in MR's circle on Audiocircle. In any case, it's just something to think about. I'm only pointing out interesting stuff I saw, again, I have no experience with it.
