  1. Thanks, that clears it up. Language policing is not a bad thing in the technical world.
  2. What is the difference between a heater and a filament in a vacuum tube?
  3. This is what has been eating my life for the last year: The "MV house" I'm calling it. It's built on the location where my grandparent's retirement cottage sat for 52 years. It's a one story house, but the attic has enough room for second floor. My grandfather's work shop "the Doghouse" which has survived the surrounding chaos. This shot doesn't really show much of the new house, but I was having fun goofing around with infrared (what else is new?)

  5. A wise choice, but don't skip the Beyer pads. The stock pads on 7506s get uncomfortable quickly.
  6. If you want a good closed dynamic can that's not difficult to drive and won't break after 6 weeks (or in my case, 10+ years) get these: Sony 7506 Closed Ear Headphone MDR-7506 | BSWUSA.com And get these to go with them: Beyerdynamic Padded Earcushions for DT250/DT280 942704 B&H Photo
  7. I am a terrible person for laughing at this.
  8. That reminds me, I need to shoehorn 4GB into my early 2008 MacBook.
  9. Really funny stuff - A Silver Mirror Man (15 pics)
  10. 100x 8" velcro cable ties. Now to buy some 12" and 18" ones. Also, this: Galen Rowell's Inner Game of Outdoor Photography
  11. A bargain, to be sure. I owned a Rollei TLR for a short while. It was a mid-1950s Rolleicord (the "cheap" line) and it was in dire need of CLA-ing (Cleaning, Lubricating, Adjustment). I traded it for an Canon EF 50mm F/1.8 Mk I. The original model that has a metal lens mount and a distance window. It looks nearly identical to the 35mm F/2. I do have vague plans in the future to get another TLR. One that actually works. As sexy as Rolleis are, I will probably get a Seagull or maybe one of those 1970s Mamiyas with swappable glass(!) Don't hold yr breath on any of that.
