  1. Nice! a direct comparison can be made...can't wait
  2. whoa! Happy Birthday! Gotta celebrate at minimeet
  3. I should be able to attend. Thanks Dan.
  4. X2 It's just bizarre...how is it that people like elephas and blubiss who are customers and trying to contact him and have left messages not able to reach him and yet 3rd parties like Al can? heheh...It's like trying to reach a girl you like but you're never able to. there could be a billion reasons why...but it's pretty much always because she doesn't want to talk to you... btw, when i used to own SP amps and dealt with him, I've heard all those things before from Mikhail regarding changing the way he does business and have yet to see any change...i would think that since this situation has lasted a couple of YEARS...it would obviously tell everyone something...
  5. something about the brown headband that makes the RS1 sing! couldn't believe it myself when i compared the two... btw, there's one pair of vintage available on ebay though that's set to close by tomorrow.
  6. well...I hope mulveling doesn't want them because I just pmed Ryan on head-fi! =) Hopefully I'll finally be able to scratch that itch and own the HP2s...one of the few headphones that I have never owned.

    Lakers!

    I grew up watching the Lakers during the magic-larry bird era. The best basketball I've ever seen. For the first time since then, there may actually be another lakers celtics championship! how cool would that be...

    Jokes

    One of my favorites and seems to fit with head-case There are only eleven times in history where the "F" word has been considered acceptable for use. They are as follows: 11. "What the @#$% do you mean we are sinking?" -- Capt. E.J. Smith of RMS Titanic, 1912 10. "What the @#$% was that?" -- Mayor Of Hiroshima, 1945 9. "Where did all those @#$%ing Indians come from?" -- Custer, 1877 8. "Any @#$%ing idiot could understand that." -- Einstein, 1938 7. "It does so @#$%ing look like her!" -- Picasso, 1926 6. "How the @#$% did you work that out?" -- Pythagoras, 126 BC 5. "You want WHAT on the @#$%ing ceiling?" -- Michelangelo, 1566 4. "Where the @#$% are we?" -- Amelia Earhart, 1937 3. "Scattered @#$%ing showers, my ass!" -- Noah, 4314 BC 2. "Aw c'mon. Who the @#$% is going to find out?" -- Bill Clinton, 1999 and a drum roll............! ..... 1. "Geez, I didn't think they'd get this @%#*^ing mad." -- Sadaam Hussein, 2003
  9. I think this is dependent upon the sensitivity of the IEM. With regular apple earbuds, I get the same effect...nothing until 9, but with my UE11s, I hear music just by turning it on.
  10. I'd look on audiogon for an older pair...perhaps you might get lucky with someone selling without realizing their current market price. btw, it's funny or perhaps not how all the headphones I own or would like to own are no longer made. I know this has been covered by other threads...but think that's why there is this price inflation. For the most part, the cans that people eventually want to migrate to end up being headphones that are no longer made. There is no headphone currently being produced that I'd want to own right now. Hopefully, that will change but who knows when...
  11. Take a look at the recent east bay mini meet. I had a recent RS1 and compared to John's vintage and the difference to my ears was not subtle. More balanced and smoother. If it was only looks and construction, then I'd never have gotten one.

    K1000 = hope

    Congrats as well. I went nuts developing a K1000 system after going to a dealer with just my k1000 headphones and listening to an Ayre 5cxe and Air Tight 300b system. Otherwordly...I'd never heard something so lifelike until then and I had an he90/es1 system at that time. So you definitely have a headphone that u can grow with and adjust. You'll also notice how each component downstream from the headphone will alter the sound so when you're ready, it'll be worth it to upgrade your components...try different speaker amps, sources, using an aftermarket cable, removing the cage, and interconnects...you hear a noticeable change each time.
  13. lol...thanks for the clarification.
  14. To defend all these people calling Mr. Nice fake...nope, I was the buyer. Who likes to be called a fool??? no one right...but I'm pretty comfortable with this purchase actually. Did I overpay? Depends...Maybe I did overpay, I thought it'd be somewhere closer to 1000 actually, but then I thought about where it stood relatively to other headphones I've listened to. I just sold a pair of RS1s so I know how they sound. I also was able to hear John's vintage pair recently and was amazed how different they are. I also own a PS1 and K1000 and the sound for me lies somewhere in between so they do have a place in my collection. I listened to and have owned most of the headphones around so I think I know what's out there and I know what I like. That being said, for me, they're worth it. I like them better than the HP1/HP2s and perhaps even better than the PS1s...time will tell. But given the prices for those and the limited availability and purely the fact that I was looking at the time these headphones were sold, I got them. Maybe I did overpay but sometimes and especially for me right now, it's about enjoying the headphone and music and I'm doing that right now. Sometimes or I think, most of the time, it should be the enjoyment factor relative to cost that is most important not primarily the cost alone. It's why some people pay thousands and tens of thousands to buy singlepower amps...I would hope it's not the ego factor but the enjoyment of the music that they're really after. So the added X factor is there. For others, maybe not. But so what...I don't give a sh*t.
  15. Or...it's not necessarily the best there is...maybe for most, but not everyone. A few people have the sold it for a k1000 system and never looked back.
