I'm sorry to be such a rube, but I have no idea what to do with this information...

Something odd. Just got a balanced cable for my JH13s, and plugged them in. Now I know IEMs are pretty sensitive, etc. but I hear a little buzz and hiss at 0 volume that goes away around 10 o'clock. I'd think such a thing would just get louder and louder as I turned up the volume. This is on all three inputs, and whether set to low or high gain it goes away at the same point on the dial. So now I'm dialing down the volume on my PWD so I can listen at 10 o'clock and higher to avoid it. Can anyone explain why this is happening? I mean, apart from me not getting a GS-X? I know that's one possible explanation.

Two-year old daughter had a fever this week over a couple of nights. Unpleasant. Woke up this morning and mom saw a tiny white area on her tongue that wasn't there before. Mom's reaction: OMG STREP. Me: it's nothing. She goes to work, and because I'm working at home today, I took her to the doctor this afternoon. Parking lot's a bitch, no spaces, everybody's crammed in like a motherfucker. At least the child was happy. Waited 30 minutes. Doctor's assessment: she bit her tongue, and it's healing. Sarcastically: "Wait, doc, it's not STREP OMG!?!?" "Um, no. Have a nice day!"

Necroing for advice...paddles charged...CLEAR! Just bought one of these a few months ago, but now suddenly I have downgrade fever—something I never knew existed. I'm using it on my work system—I think it's both overkill and underutilized. It sounds great, but I'm using my MacBook Air with Amarra/Pure Music/whateverthefuck as a source and serving it out via USB to the thing. I tried the network bridge and it definitely sounds better using that, but I prefer using my MacBook to play music. In any case, not using the bridge is me not taking full advantage of its capability...and I'm also tired of tweaking with firmware revisions and all that. If I sell, I could partially fund a new headphone amp (the GS-X) and an NAD M51 or Oppo 105. Is this a Bad Idea?

I'm mostly a pourover (Chemex+Kone) guy. I don't mind a little complexity—after all, I'm already weighing my coffee and my water—but after checking out Intelligentsia's guide to siphon coffee, I was suddenly less interested, considering I get a great cup of coffee with a lot less hassle. I've asked some of my coffee nerd friends about it as well, and they have generally waved me off, and these are hardcore espresso types.
