  2. yup, bright and clear
  3. Hi grover, welcome to head-case I thought the URS was also to be a stable design ? Which metals then remain in the signal path ? Have you played with Xhadow and/or Bochinno XLR connectors and if so how do they compare for performance in sound to the more affordable neutrik, switchcraft etc. ?
  4. same with me
  5. Blackadder the third: Episode: NOB & NOBILITY Edmund Blackadder: Either I think up an idea, or, tomorrow, we die -- which, Baldrick, I have to tell you, I have no intention of doing, because I want to be young and wild, and then I want to be middle-aged and rich, and then I want to be old and annoy people by pretending that I'm deaf.
  6. In the same vein as the Movie and Music Lyric threads. Series: Red Dwarf Episode: Stasis leak Rimmer: Now kindly cluck off, before I extract your gibblets, and shove a large seasoned onion between the lips you never kiss with. One of my favourite tv shows for dialogue, peruse these to see what I mean. http://www.freewebs.com/reddwarfquotes/main.htm http://www.theninemuses.net/quotes/reddwarf.html
  7. Artist: Eric Idle Film: Life of Brian Song: "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" Lyric: And always look on the bright side of life... Always look on the right side of life... (Come on guys, cheer up!) Always look on the bright side of life... Always look on the bright side of life... (Worse things happen at sea, you know.) Always look on the bright side of life... (I mean - what have you got to lose?) (You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing. What have you lost? Nothing!) Always look on the right side of life...
  8. Hi Mortalcoil, enjoy the smilies
  9. if airflow is the problem pics of internal layout would help
  10. fit this to your graphics card http://www.silentpcreview.com/article793-page5.html it should help
  11. With the heightened interest in ecology brought about by climate change there are frequent new discoveries in lifeform behaviour and interactions, very, very little is yet known about the deep sea environment (for example) and the general gathering of information about the detailed relationships that constitute earths' ecosystem has barely begun. With this in mind I think the prospect of risking introduction of new unpredictable lifeforms into any little understood ecosystem a bit unwise. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbits_in_Australia
  12. seriously scary, definitely a case of trying to run before we can walk
  13. A wider more generous wooden top peice on the AT-HPS500 could more fully support the headband and prevent the sag that allows the bottom of the L3000 earpads to touch. If you were able to manage this it might be a solution.
  14. Mine are currently on my desk but I may pick up an AT-HPS500 once I've got my amp here and settled in
  15. This is the results of my measurements - I don't currently have access to a technical drawing package so it's not to scale but the measurements are as described.
  16. What were you doing to the earphones at the time of their emitting a cracking sound ?
  17. A pair of Xhadow connectors arrived today Comparing the thread pitch against 55o Whitworth gauge, 60o Metric and ANT gauges. The best fit in each scale is 26G, 1.0mm and 26. Of these the metric 60o 1.0mm pitch is visually the closest fit and when gauge thread is matched with the Xhadow nut, provides a strong, stable connection with very little play back and forth. Once a digital calliper arrives (early next week) I'll measure thread depth and nut internal diameter. p.s. The rear barrel nut on the Xhadow connector is too small a diameter to be used directly with the gender module.
  18. On a related note - it's been just over 150 years since Florence Nightingale made her fame by advocating for cleanliness in wards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_Nightingale
  19. First episode of season 2 of Torchwood
  20. quite enlightening how most superbugs are removed by soap. It's been a noticeable point with MRSA over here that hospital/ward cleanliness is being pushed back up the agenda to being a key point to patient care.
  21. I like how the journalist reported the results "The Castro district in San Francisco has the highest number of gay residents in the country, according to the University of California, San Francisco. One in 588 residents is infected with the new multidrug-resistant MRSA strain, the study found. That compares with 1 in 3,800 people in San Francisco, according to statistical analyses based on ZIP codes." A new disease, spread by contact and it has localised dispersion what a suprise
  22. MOT = Member Of the Trade
