  1. John where do you get your wire terminal blocks from? I've been looking around for 600v rated parts for decent price but no luck. The green cheap ones on ebay rated for 350vac and no good.
  2. I don't see anything wrong with his post nor shilling for any products, he might've come out a bit direct and harsh, it's just his opinion and that is all, take it however you like. It's not like he criticize the GSXMK2 for being a POS because he didn't like it paired with the HD800. He did state it's advantages with other headphones that are not bright ended sounding. But I would disagree that the MSB Analog is an analogue sounding DAC, ime far from what I'd call close to analogue sounding but that's me. This actually brings back memories to threads I've read years back on the other site before I registered when people use to claim the b22 + HD800 was one of the best pairings you can go, fast forward a few years when I purchased a passive build and later built 5 b22 (up to date) balanced, passive and active boards, with the HD800's modded or not I'm surprised I still have my ears. b22 does sound wonderful with laid back sounding headphones that need to wake up. I really do want to hear a GSX MK2 something I've wanted for it to go with my LCD's, alas no money.
  3. Digging the black spritzer. @kevin: Thanks for the note on identifying fake 1968's. Now what agent should I use for buying stuff on Taobao? These are the ones I'm going to go forth with: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.36.9sqmKb&id=38581330445&ns=1#detail or http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.78.9sqmKb&id=39994327207&ns=1#detail or http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.162.Xu7U33&id=36290880273&ns=1#detail
  4. Ok bdent is out of stock and on backorder, don't think they will get some anytime soon which means my build is halted to x time interval i.e I'm fucked unless another source for A1968's pops up. I wouldn't touch transistors on taobao with a 50 feet pole.
  5. I'm having difficulty trying to source 1968's for reasonable prices (bdent has only few of them left for $14.95). Any places that might stock some NOS units that aren't too pricey or fake?
  6. Got all the vintage SR Staxes except the SR-2, my preference would be SR-5 or Gold over the SR-3, 3N/New SR-3 and the SR-1. I feel sorry for LLmk1 and mk2 owners.
  7. I've had a shitstorm of various advertised "grade" plantronics go through RMA and returns due to shit-stellar quality at my last workplace.
  8. True true just read the samething elsewhere.
  9. +1 for HD5xx series and boom mic attachment, fairly recommended all over gaming and computer tech forums, had one myself (HD595 + Zalman boom mic). Can't really go wrong with the PC350/360 either.
  10. Will PM you later today John after work.
  11. Would using a 0.1uf 250vac rated mkp be a good move to suppress any in burst charge on power up on the switch? I've have some tube amps and some high voltage ss amps that use this on the switch (my Stax SRM1 has it).
  12. Cheers Kev, this will help me avoid any headfuck troubleshooting that might come my way.
  13. Can any of the different hfe ratings/classifications for 2SC2240/970 and 1815 be used? I've got a massive order of 2240/970 GR's coming and don't want to run into troubles if BL is the preferred one due to its higher hfe base to collector ratings.
  14. That's the one, sufficed to say was not really impressed with the very rough diy'esh prototype build approach of the Demograf amp (though supposedly still in the works) the price did not reflect a $25-30k (after Russian euro to usd exchange) product. But I'm all in for the diy approach people are doing out there but when people start judging something to be the best solely on price and not even hearing one....that's when we all go hmm. The RKV looks like a simple tube amp that can be diy'd, any floating schematics around the RKV is based off? I'm still trying to find the listing for that custom SRD-6 tube loaded adaptor from YJ Auctions late last year.
  15. French audiophiles like there sound coloured. That blind test shootout with the 009+Wee+RKV vs 007t, 717 and T2 was interesting. Wasn't he the same poster who linked about some crazy diy e-stat designed amp from a Russian diy'er that cost about $30k and without hearing one or the BHSE or a DIYT2 claimed it is the bestest amp in the world because of its price? (The pic in the Stax thread on the other site with the big ass 845 tubes or someshit and big NOS caps).
  16. Scam or what? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Stax-electrostatic-headphone-step-up-transformer-/171397731627?pt=Kopfh%C3%B6rer&hash=item27e819d52b&_uhb=1 SRD-7 Pro with some nicer grade components for a whopping price.
  17. Oh you gotta be fucking kidding me, that listing just ended all sold out before I could buy some. Ffs
  18. If I read right, that listing is for 12 pieces and not just 1? That is dirt cheap going to buy a mini stash. There are two versions of the 2SC2705 O and Y class, O has hfe 80-160 and Y is 120-240, does it matter either of which is used?
  19. I've got 1 2sc4686 without the A and collector to emitter voltage is 1000v and the 4686A is 1200v. Compared to the datasheet to death and that's the only difference between the two that I could find. Not sure about the fluxcapacitance though. Speaking of RK50 pots, is this an RK50? http://www.thevintageknob.org/sony-TA-ER1.html
  20. If the amp was $400-500 it would've been worth the hassle for me at least, but the $700+ meh.
  21. Given all the effort to fix it up is the "cheap" asking price for it still worth buying?
  22. I've emailed a few local ones here and they don't want to sell some to me unless I buy there toroids. I was hoping there was supplier somewhere or an ebay store that sell mounting plates standalone. Ah well.
  23. I'm missing mounting plates and rubber isolation pads for a few toroids that have been sitting here for a while, where can I source some from?
  24. Good ole wiktor at it again. lol EDIT: Had look at prices of the other stuff he is selling and wtf. Oh and did he run out of HE90/V90 packages to sell?
  25. If there is a small etched part code number you can maybe email Ti to confirm its authenticity. Other then that you can test or listen.
