  1. Re: Aging This guy is 68 and he's still riding pretty damn well Hell of a writer as well
  2. Happy Belated Birthday!
  3. Mess is right. I'll stick with square taper. One of the quys I know from BF had his BB30 chew itself to pieces and had to abandon the DD last year. I've done some reading on integrated headsets as well. What a great idea <<shudder>>
  4. English would normally refer to the threading whereas BB30 is some sort of pressed in external cups. From what I could find for specs, all the CAAD9s I looked at showed BB30 FSA BBs (1, 4 and 5). Take this with a grain of salt since I don't know shit about most modern BB systems.
  5. Way to go Vicki and all! Nice here but I came down with a cold and feel like shit. May try to get out for a short one later today, though the wind is kicking up here.
  6. Happy Birthday Doug! Hope it is a great one!
  7. Brent, Glad you got out, and are digging it. Hope the drop and all sat well with your back issues. Vicki, glad Dave is getting off his ass and getting to work on your bike Looks like it is well thought out, and I hope you really like it when you get it. Nice of him to consider toe overlap on that small of a frame, as that isn't an easy issue to deal with gracefully. And as Parris and all point out, you are not undeserving in the least for something like this.
  8. Might have to look into the TDC here. From what I can tell, it starts from < 10 miles from here. I've had my Trek done for awhile, but hadn't had the opportunity to shoot some pics of it. Went our for an 11 mile ride this afternoon, and shot some pics after I got back. I know with all the Kirks and such around here, this isn't much, but it rides nice and for a lower-end mid-80s Trek, it is fairly light (~23 or so lbs). Campy hubs FTW.

    Ecco here.
  10. Someone over there uses Tyll's avatar as well... isn't that a picture of him and his test box?
  11. My brother sent me one of those stands last year. Works well. Wish I had their workstand. Glad I don't have to use a workstand that much though.
  12. You can hear hum with the headphones on your head, but them not being plugged into anything? And this hum is coming thru the headphones?

Happy Birthday Al! Hope it's a great one!
  14. Cool Vicki! ShimaNO... sorry, couldn't help myself Can't wait to see it!
  15. My brother and his wife stayed at the Hyatt Regency a few years ago down on Michigan Ave. on Wacker... easy walk to the Mag mile. Another friend stayed at the James hotel on Ontario, 1 block from Michigan Ave. and said it was good. Not sure what pricing is like.
  16. You may find some overlap in hFE when you test them between grades. Or not. If matching, I you can see what matches up and use those. No difference in the parts, just graded during testing by the manufacturer.
  17. ^ Just eat one less biscuit to compensate...
  18. Frogs have a huge amount of float (20 degrees to release outward, 6 degrees inward) which would make them a no go for me (I hate float). I have a hard time releasing outward on my right leg, which is the one I unclip, so I normally go inwards to unclip. I know, you're supposed to go outwards... You would need to try some pedals to see what you prefer as far as float, release, etc. EDIT: and true dat what aerius just said... ride it.
  19. Justin, Maybe just start out with some Powergrips on the stock pedals (not sure what those are). Either that, or put some toe clips on, though I don't know how well those will work with non-smooth soled shoes. Might be hard to get into.
  20. JAE makes some pretty decent connectors. These were used for the HV umbilical on a Counterpoint preamp I used to own. Check the voltage rating though if you need above 300V or so (though mine was running at 425V... good designer ) http://se.mouser.com/ProductDetail/JAE-Electronics/SRCN6A21-16S/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMvwyOPDUMfDH5gn%2fEwOZw6DcRDCXriNW8o%3d http://se.mouser.com/JAE-Electronics/Standard-Circular-Connector/SRCN-Series/_/N-1z0zl5cZav49jZ1yzvw9y
  21. Cool! Also, forgot, nice bike for Peter!
  22. Re: servo There was an amusing thread on HF where Rudi (rudistor) got into it with Kevin claiming that the servo was feedback and bad... the servo operates under 1Hz, so I guess it is somewhat
  23. Jim, Is Peter also using the Bridgestone you and he refurbed? Or was that for you
  24. The DC servo really isn't a feedback circuit. However, thinking about it, you do have the negative feedback in place, correct? Don't have the resistor numbers offhand, and I think the 2pf cap is compensation for the feedback circuit. You might just pull an active of each type, or if you have spares, test them. EDIT: R52/53 and 56/57 are the feedback circuit, with C1 and C3 as compensation caps (schematic shows 1pf).
