  1. WD40 is great for cleaning guns. But it's basically diesel. You definitely have to clean the residue when you're done.

It does, but then you have to clean off the WD-40 residue with alcohol whereas lighter fluid evaporates away quickly and cleanly.

Yep, you have to clean the residue. But that is easy. Almost everybody has WD-40. Most people don't have lighter fluid these days. If you have it or don't mind the trip to buy it, by all means use it.

  2. Been a fan awhile now. My dad's had season seats for 20+ years, from the Fabulous Forum to Staples (been selling his tx this season for him since he lives in Rome now). It's a bit hard to get back on the Kobe bus, but i think i am beginning to forget. Now he has someone to support him with Gasol. But will Gasol be able to muscle up with the beefier centers?

I'm thinking about going to the New Orleans game in April to see Gasol live. I was not interested in going to any games this year until he came.

Currently, the only beefy center in the west is Shaq, and he's a shadow of his former self. It doesn't matter though, soon Bynum will be back and Gasol will only have to match up with beefy power forwards.

  3. Thanks guys.

I'll be moving to Townsend, MA, which is about 19 miles southwest of Nashua. It's out in nowhere area, but that's just the way we like it.

Wow, Townsend is out there a bit. I hope that you don't work in Boston. If so, you have a heck of a commute. :(

From 1981-1985 I lived in Acton, MA. I used to fly gliders on the weekends at Pepperell, right next door to Townsend. Things probably have changed somewhat since then.

  4. I'd forgotten I was scuba diving that young. I qualified at 12, advanced level at 13 or 14. I havent been in the water in ages now though. I also invented Doug-Fu, which at the time was cooler than Judo. :D

My father was stationed on Guam when I was 13 and 14. I learned to dive there where the water was always warm (we didn't have or need wet suits) and a bad day was only 30 meters of visibility. I was so deprived as a kid.

  5. I think that hes carrying over his mindset from whatever forums he normally posts on. Possibly in those forums he is someone that other members give the slightest rats ass about. But given the upfront idiocy of his situation I doubt thats likely.

jonas I have first hand experience with fake PX100s and know the differences between real and fake ones in sound and construction. If you stop being a wab and realise that you have been one I'll then share that info.

I suspect that he's a 13 year old with a computer and is very early in the process of how to deal with adult situations. He'll (or she'll but probably not) learn.

  6. My experience is if you don't have insurance, most medical providers and hospitals are glad to negotiate a better deal, too.

Probably true, but IMO paying for health care shouldn't be akin to buying a used car.

My best man is the head of the Radiology Department at the University of Arizona. The UA medical center recently changed their policies so that the regular price is the same as their negotiated prices. They realized that if the person didn't have health insurance, they probably couldn't pay for the high prices anyway.

  7. Mine are not bass-heavy model, btw. If you need a better deal, I can work something out but I think I paid $230 or something for them.

    Hi Al,

Have you listened to my K340s? I have no idea if they are the bass- light, middle or heavy. Maybe you could tell me?

    Regards,

    -ken

  8. Congrats, but the K340s are soooo much better in every way....uh...not to rain on your parade, but..... :P

I'll second this. I tried Sextett's for the first time at MOA. They sounded very mediocre either being driven by my Platinum Extreme or Al's SDS-XLR. On the other hand, I love how the Extreme drives my K340s.

  9. <snip>

I may be all alone here in my sentiments here, but one thing I like about this forum, is that I can say what I think, popular or not.

Like you don't on the other site.

To the OP, you really need to state your requirements in a portable amp. I'm assuming that you want a portable amp as you mentioned the Pico. Does it need to had a USB Dac? What kind of music do you mostly listen to? What other amps have you heard and liked or disliked? What's your budget? What are your requirement wrt batteries? What about size?

My main portable amp is Rockhopper Pimeta. It's powered by a replaceable 9V battery that I can buy anywhere. It's larger than my iPod (the usual source) but works for me. The build quality and sound quality is quite nice. Overall a good amp purchase for ~ $80 USD. Depending on your requirements, something similar to this may work well for you too.

  10. Could you get rid of the sliders on the frames altogether? It's really annoying to have a stack of pictures, with some or all of them being wider than the frame. To see all of a picture, one has to scroll down to the slider, slide the frame and then scroll back up to the desired picture. It's a huge PITA. :mikey2:

Just let the browser do the sliding. That way no scrolling is necessary. :prettyprincess:

  11. Just bought two plane tickets to Greece :)

I'm close. I finally got around to buying two plane tickets to CanJam. They only cost $20, plus 100K miles. We were originally planning on coming in on Friday, but would get there at 8:01 pm. That's kind of late. So I decided to get there a day early so that we can be social on Friday. Now I just have to change our hotel reservation to match.

Hey JP, maybe you could pick us up at FLL and take us to the Thursday night "Beer Dinner"? >:D Actually, I suspect that coming in at 8:01 pm means that we'll be too late to make it. :(
