  1. Thanks for the eyeopening information.
  2. Welcome Ingwe! Now drop...... (I'd give a smile but I have no smilies option)
  3. Maybe an 840c? Has two digital ins (one computer, one squeezebox) and a transport.
  4. Yeah, Detroit got the lead and could play d. They are so good in all facet . Pitt has some decisions to make for next year but you have to really like what they put together this year. And as I type this, the Pens poke their head above the coffin lid and score to make it 3-2. One last gasp. Sweet dreams. Congrats Detroit fans.
  5. Baby back ribs rubbed with Famous Dave's Rib rub and sauce, corn, sweet potato & garlic bread.
  6. I had used standard power cords with all my equipment. I got a VD Power 1 in a give away and lived with it feeding my amp for a few months. I then moved the VD cord to my tube DAC and put the standard cord back on the amp. I immediately noticed the amp not sounding as lively or as good a sound stage (congested). The VD did make the DAC sound crisper with more details, at the loss of dynamics in my amp. I moved the cord back to the amp and the music came back to life. Don't make sense but living with it then removing it tells the truth. Between the two, the cord made more of a difference with the amp plugged into the wall. As to hospital grade receptacles. The ground pin sleeves are molded vs riveted to the ground bus in the receptacle. That is the only design difference from standard built units. The retention strength of the ground plug is tested for 4 oz on a straight pull test. Less indicates the ground pin sleeve is making insufficient contact with the pin. The main concern is a good ground reference at both 15 amp (standard) and 10 milliamp (quiet) loads. At standard amp testing, a measurement of .1 ohms impedance max. A low amp (quiet) load is .2 ohm max. Voltage measurements is another parameter of interest but can be easily achieved with normal wiring techniques so there is no change of materials or design. I can tell you that before the quiet guidelines were put into place, you could see a ground pass the 15 amp test fine, but would see 2 ohm readings for quiet testing of the same receptacle. So a little closer look at the quality of build, voltage and impedance ratings of the grounding circuits with a quiet load performance standard and a more reliable ground path are the differences from a standard receptacle. IMO
  7. I don't know the inside to this but feel I should laugh.
  8. Late to the thread but Blues fan here. (hangs head) Having retrospect, the Senns were a real disappointment. The Pens looked good. Of course the goaltending will have to make a reputation of itself to compete for the cup. I hope they do good. The West is playing a physical round. Whoever comes out of the west may not be able to keep up with a Pens/Canadians foe. I suspect either the Wings or Sharks come out of the west. The caveat with the Wings being if the old goaltending can bear the grueling schedule. As to no love for hockey in the states, its a lot cheaper to play baseball or basketball than hockey. Hockey is Canada's national sport and Baseball is America's (although football is the uncrowned national sport). Its hard to claim the National Felons League with image and all. You can play whiffle, cork & bottletops with two, three for Indianball. Anyway, I think hockey is a very complex sport and needs ice. Ice time down here is expensive. Even winter gives only a few states the opportunity to play on free ice. I played roller hockey and its not the same as playing on ice.
  9. Thanks.
  10. Pink Floyd DSotM Time But you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again. The sun is the same, in a relative way but your older. Shorter of breath, and one day, closer to death Steve Walsh Schemer-Dreamer Every Step of the Way Well it's been 9 or 10 years since I started my ramblin round and from hand to mouth I was livin, playin every bar in town. Though a dollar a day didn't go too far, I could never deny my pride. I couldn't lay back and be taken care of, while the world went by outside. So I went to school to learn, but I didn't like what they teach. And I went to church to pray, but I didn't like what they preach. I was hot-headed, young and angry, and I felt I could take the heat. And I had to find out my own way, how to live out on the street. So I packed my bags and I left here, to peruse the streets alone. And I saw that side of midnight, where the beggars howled and groaned. Faces filled with desperation, where the future ain't so bright But I remember back in Kansas, when we sang this song at night Every Step........
  11. So 66-76 don't count? Disco.......... Damn Bee-Gees. That era did have some painful songs. I Am Woman -Helen Ready DOA -Bloodrock Jungle Boogie -Kool and the Gang
  12. I am in Cincy for the next three days and would be happy to lend a hand if you need help with errands. Will be at UC friday and Good Sam Sat.
  13. Damn dude, wish you well. As to the face healing, I had a similar hit playing hockey. Had three fractures in the cheek, crushed orbit and the doc said to stay off airplanes for a while. No need to set anything as the face is pretty tight. I absolutely do not envy your need for the root canals. I would hope they knock you out(Chemically) and do them all at once. I would think your concussion will be with you for some time. Stay away from King's Island for a while. As to the chickenshit that didn't have the guts to face ya, FUCK THE FUCKIN FUCKER . Oh, and the vic cocktail is a very mellow ride..... It goes good with pity lovin and nurses are pros
  14. Good boom. A magician is performing during dinner on a cruise ship. The Captain has a parrot at his table who starts telling the tricks. "It's up his sleeve..., It's behind his back... etc. Well the parrot was getting on the magician's nerves and he's getting pissed. In the early morning, the ship hits an iceburg and sinks. Two days later the magician comes to on a piece of debris and finds the parrot at the end just staring a hole through him. So he stares back with hate and spite, determined not to let this fucking parrot beat him. This goes on for three days until finally the parrots says, "OK, I give, where's the ship?"
  15. Thank you tkam for a good review. I hope a couple 840c show up at National so some high end matchups can be done. Good to hear you can get a solid player with dac function for this price range. The dac/software is capable of SACD playback but e-mailing Cambridge on the hope of them adding this and firewire in the near future was not in their plans. I would guess/hope that burn in would bring the soundstage into focus?
  16. RS-1. From the poorer side of town. K1000s would be nice but you have to build a rig around those. Being a noob, I have determined to do this without credit card.
  17. This souf isn't where they sale rubbers at family reunions is it? Where small farm animals hide when chores are done? A virgin is able to outrun her brothers? Wait, that's here. Nevermind.
  18. I would suggest getting a fu smiley here, saves spelling it out. just don't do it. And maybe a cs and a brown (fos) smiley. I think it neater to see the real personality of the member here (what a stupid fucking question) as opposed to the politican at hf (use the search button). I also see that there are the same experts here as there with less egomania (or maybe I haven't been around long enough). By the by Jasper, what is the initiation? If it is to pose for the cs smiley, not.
  19. You've never heard of Bob Huggins and the UC Bearcats?
  20. Same here (if I pass the initiation)
  21. My dream game would be The University of Missouri vs The Ohio State University for the NCAA Championship. WVA has a better destiny in their hands than MO so I'm hoping for a Pitt win. Having grown up in MO and moving to current home 19 yrs ago, this dream matchup would leave me stupid shitfaced. I'd be good either way. And a shout to U of Cincinnati... Go OH/MO
  22. Did anybody besides Earl step up on the issue, or did you two take the flak? Must a been a fun one. Sorry to bring up a bad memory.
  23. This is indeed the 5 page thread that I so sickly read through an realized the angles and biased character of the Head-Fi staff. Good to you for standing your ground and glad to have found this place. I may take you up on the offer but the Aero was "just a bit outside" my budget. Perhaps more of a $2k variety. Now that I have found this site, I'll await the next effort and see if I could tag along. I emailed Jude for advice on a meet gathering in the Cin. market with no response. Of course the site went down just after that. Perhaps his response is what caused the crash . Thank you folk for responding. Will keep my eyes open.
  24. Would there be any interest in getting a meet up and running? Would be willing to travel to Columbus if easier for all. Seems like a lot of Ohio heads just waiting for a music party. This area seems to be taboo since the whole Mikey1 party got pissed on. Really would like to hear some serious rigs to know in what direction to continue my home hp project. So far I have a SP Platinum and 701s. I am wanting to listen to some sources & hps to find out my sound before spending $$$ for a decent component. I just need some folk to show off some primo gear.
  25. It would be nice to not have to explain hi-fi to the ipod crowd.
