  1. A few questions... Is CTR important? Is it better to let the base of the transistor float, or tie it to the opto? Looks like a good strategy for a 'stat amp...
  2. Agreed. Look for 1.7v though, the 1.8v will result in a different operating point unless you adjust a few resistors. You'll probably have to buy a few different kinds and measure them. You may even have better luck with 3mm devices.
  3. I've bought a lot of stuff from them, they are definitely legit.
  4. Excellent! Please stop by mikeymad's place first though Free all those bottles from the needless slaying!
  5. I haven't been able to get kümmel in Texas at all... Russian variety I'd assume would be even harder to find. I've had it overseas though, and i would imagine it would work well in cocktails..
  6. WANT! Been on my list for quite a while.
  7. Thanks! It's been great so far!
  8. I'm not sure what it was called. I actually like it
  9. A pint of Peroni with an ounce of Campari in South Padre.
  10. A pair of Twentieth Century Cocktails
  11. That was probably the most "meh" WWDC I've ever followed. No new hardware is no new excitement in my book.
  12. Personally, I'd file Kevin's T2 build with his KGSS build, as a "special" one that doesn't require additional changes and then turn around and do the modifications to stabilize your build.
  13. nice! With your loop, won't you have the input RC filter from the amp transferred to the other input? I would think this would have some unintended consequences... I think it's worthwhile to move the feedback resistor like Craig did. I noticed Kevin did this in the second board revision, so I'd assume that he would agree. If you don't have a scope, I'd also add the additional 5pF/1kV caps across the 100K resistors as well (IIRC, Craig ended up omitting these caps and the 2.2pF caps, but I wouldn't do this unless you can verify the results, including transient response). I'm not sure if Craig ever posted picture of the modification, but it's not too hard to imagine what he did. Also, has anyone else done the mod outlined below? If so, I'd be curious to see what your thoughts are. https://picasaweb.google.com/inuponken/T2#5566996623938911634
  14. I really enjoy Plymouth, and a Plymouth G&T
  15. Kerry, just noticed this question. I used Mouser 534-11012-R (and presumably 534-11012-. I like them, my only complaint is that they are hard to get exactly centered with respect to each other, as the hole in the PCB is rather large and they sorta float around in the hole... but, that's a minor complaint.
  16. aaaahh.. thanks! I like the idea of not having to use a drill press though, so we'll see if I have steady enough hands. Thanks guys!
  17. ah. Thanks! I think I'll try out this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Double-End-Pin-Vise-Hand-Drill-w-20pc-Twist-Drill-Set-/180674981496?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a11116e78#ht_2458wt_907
  18. Thanks Kevin, I was actually looking for the tool for another use. I didn't realize a drill bit would accomplish the same thing, until I thought more about it... I just had the word "reamer" stuck in my head I guess. Did you stick the bit in some sort of hand tool then? I figured many chucks wouldn't down go down that low..
  19. Kevin, What size reamer did you use to enlarge the C3381 holes? Looking at MSC, I'm seeing the smallest as 7/0 which is 0.0497" to 0.0666". I'd like to pick up a similar tool and am having problems finding something.
  20. I think the Red Vodka Mind Eraser was extra effective on Al. You really don't remember?!
  21. Cool! I definitely enjoyed listening to Al's DannyB 300B amp. I'm not sure if he is watching, but man I'd really like to own that amp one day... but the force is strong in the Voltron black hole of audio gear. well, shit, the power of marketing is great, huh? I agree. I'd say other than the 100% DIY options (meaning, it's possible to buy a 100% assembled Paramount) I"d perhaps consider the Assemblage 300B as well: http://www.audioxpress.com/reviews/media/GA400HA1.pdf Any details on this setup that AKG used?
  22. I'm totally pissed, as I finally found another site a few weeks ago that would ship a few bottles to me and finally got around to placing the order today. At the end of the checkout, they say that they cannot ship to a list of states, and then at the end they say "AS OF MAY 23rd, 2011 THIS INCLUDES TEXAS". Argh!
  23. Right, an insurmountable challenge to overcome, my bad.
  24. What's interesting about the Cary? What about the Bottlehead Paramount 300B in comparison?
