  1. I'm wondering if it's related to the hissing issue that Inu found (and fixed). Seems like some extreme oscillation, that's cured once the amp gets a little more to a stable operating point. Then, once the pot is replaced, the other pot in that battery is already at a more sane location and the issue goes away. This would sorta make sense, given the fix that Inu performed (see link I posted a while back).
  2. Which pot? Is it perhaps the one that is (nearly) directly over one of the LED legs and a resistor?
  3. Cool! I thought it was nice as well. Me? Xanthia Cocktail (Savoy) Equal parts dry gin, Kirsch and Yellow Chartreuse. Nice and somehow strangely is a nice followup to the Cocchi Americano drinks...
  4. Shelly, as a fellow Aperol and soda drinker, you might like this one: 6/4 oz Cocchi Americano 1/4 oz Campari 1/4 oz sparkling water Serve on ice.
  5. Those are on ny short list, but cannot fisb them. Really Jerry? Those stem great.... Imhfo.
  6. Word. The suck.
  7. Torano Exodus. Nice. They have come a long way in nit a lot of time
  8. Lots of great cocktails. Man, amazing! Loved the combo if smith and cross with firelot liqueur. Loved gran Classico bitters. Loved Bonal. Loved Cocchi Torino. Nice night.
  9. Any chance you could throw a digikey part on for me?
  10. It's a very nice gin. This place has a massive number of Gin on the menu, very pumped. Just had something with Cocchi Torino and that Hans Alpens Walnut stuff. Mmmmmmmmmm. I didn't expect the Torino to be so sweet! Not all a general vermouth sub... But, very nice.
  11. Wait for it........ Wait.... Just to make sure.... Win? Carnal Knowledge! Scotch, Yellow Chartreuse, Bonal, Grapefruit Bitters!

  14. For some reason, "unread" posts tab is barfing on Tapatalk. The other tabs seem to work as well as they ever have.
  15. but, did you wear the shirt?!
  16. I enlarged the center hole for the input tube sockets to improve the fit. In looking at various pics, not everyone did this (did anyone?), so it's probably a personal preference. Regardless of what you do, they sit at a lower height than the output tubes. Don't forget to really tighten the center pin before soldering to make sure the two halves of the socket are firmly connected together.
  17. nice! what's that massive green with yellow stripe wire for? Have you flipped it on yet?
  18. ok, one more question that probably nobody cares about, but hey... Would it have been possible to locate the Stax jack and the hole for the volume shaft at the same vertical position? If the jack is about 1.125" tall and the RK50 is 27mm off the PCB, this looks like it should be possible. I'm trying to figure out why this wasn't done... to potentially avoid a mistake cutting my front panel I'm staring at the missing front panel on mine and it looks doable, but I'm not sure if I'm missing something.
  19. I matched them at 6V and Ib = 3.5uA and used a 1M pot in series with a 1M resistor to set the current. Once the base current was set, I just read off the collector current and matched these values. Typically what I do is set a target collector current using the pot, then read off the base current and use this to calculate hfe, but this approach doesn't work well with high hfe devices. In this case, it's better to just fix the base current...

  22. You can even get zag sockets, but if you use standard .1" veroboard you'll have to do some tricks with the pins. But yeah, rotating is the trick. I'll take a pic for you tonite, and if anyone is interested I could colate the matching data and post that.
  23. Second only to CRDs, but maybe i am the only one that matches those.. I recently matched a ton of 2sc3381 and those aren't really that hard. You need two meters, one that can do .1uA accuracy and a resistor and a pot... The key is making a jig that just requires you to pull the device out and rotate it so you don't have to duplicate the jig for the second side...
