  1. I have nothing to add to this thread, other than a for Columbia
  2. yes, in response to the above two posts there is a quandary on what to do, if you're looking for a true preamp. However, in Steve's case he's planning on using it as a integrated amp, not a true preamp. What about using the beta22 as a preamp into something like a Pass F4? In this case, there isn't any voltage gain in the amp, so it might be a match made in heaven.
  3. well, more like an integrated amp, but yes I am in agreement. swt61 is planning on trying it out, and this is one of the reasons his beta22 is at my house right now.
  4. while we're on this discussion, take a moment to compare the M3 and ?22 from the data at these links: http://www.amb.org/audio/mmm/rmaa_mmm_8.html http://www.amb.org/audio/beta22/rmaa_beta22_8.htm both are tests results into a 8? load. I won't connect the dots for you, but it's pretty interesting data.
  5. heh, I have this reluctance to mod factory terminated cables. Perhaps I need to just sell this cable and make one with the proper terminations........
  6. yup, exactly what I'm looking for. the price is right on this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ATLONA-1-HIGH-QUALITY-RCA-FEMALE-TO-BNC-MALE-ADAPTER_W0QQitemZ150224886712QQihZ005QQcategoryZ32837QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem does it look similar to the Stereovox connector?
  7. if only my Deutsch Grammaphone "Der Rosenkavalier" tulip box set would fit
  8. his joinery is especially fantastic, as is his packing skills. The boxes are like custom fit to the cubes. I'll take a pic later on for you guys.
  9. anyone know of a decent quality BNC->RCA adapter?
  10. steve: the cubes in my office are made by this fellow, and the custom top is as well. I opted for cherry of course.
  11. I would agree with the new Tango, but the old ones are very special IMHO. I finally fell in love with the Klyne and Pass phono stages and did away with such things... I hope postjack finds something that works for him!
  12. what transformers do the bent audio mu step-ups use?
  13. why go with these over the Lundahl / K&K step-up?
  14. man, I need some expensive cutters too
  15. yup, you can even order the pad separate from the arcs. Both are $50. I ordered from Yama's
  16. hi all! I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to turn a wood motor pod for a project I am working on. I have a custom aluminum plate that I'd like to press fit into a simple, wood cylinder that would include a cutout for the motor itself that would run right down the middle. The outside diameter would be 120mm and the height would be just enough to accommodate my Nottingham turntable, so 4-5". If anyone is interested, I can supply detailed drawings for the top plate and we can talk price Thanks!
  17. I just salvaged $50 worth of parts using a relatively new $30 "hot solder sucker". Gotta love when tools pay for themselves. Great little tool, much better than the Rat Shack bulb desoldering iron. A few words of wisdom. Two hot tools on your bench is one too many... and the "sucker" can "blow" as well.................. when depressing the plunger.
  18. I don't know if this helps, but the Kimber standard spade fits quite nicely on the narrow-ish barrier strips that the Vandersteen speakers use. Perhaps they would fit on these amps as well?

    UPS Sucks

well, if you're not there on Saturday, then you have to wait until Tuesday as they don't work on Mondays.
  20. on a napkin, but it's the same schematic that is inside your amp.

    UPS Sucks

as bad as UPS has been, I think Fed Ex Home Delivery is 1000 times worse. I will never use either again.
  22. I have traced the circuit for this amp... uhm, I have to agree with Spritzer, it's not really mod worthy. "next please!"
