  1. wow, this thread is turning into a Springer episode... anyways, if you're referring to the ES-1 the word "design" the most laughable verb you could have possibly used in that sentence. I can see why Kevin calls you a shill if you routinely spout out nonsense like this.
  2. does anyone know of a source of empty teflon tubing in a ribbon configuration, or a way to rig something up like this?
  3. sure... K701 comes to mind as a prime example.
  4. not that this isn't done at all in the realm of dynamic headphones...
  5. if you're referring to me, then I would like to set the record straight in that I whole heartedly agree with the above statement. Heck, if purk prefers the Pro to the SR-007, that's great. My first tongue in cheek comment really sums up how I feel about such comparisons though.
  6. sorry, it is about synergism. If not, they why not say that you like the Pro better than the OII unequivocally? I'd be fine with that statement.
  7. no, I understood your point. So you favor a synergistic combo over a lousy combo. I just don't see value in these types of comparisons. If you were comparing a combo that you personally find synergistic to another combo that a majority of people find synergistic, that would be one thing. I find syllogistic comparisons kinda annoying and they are often used in straw man arguments. [i hope I got that one right Dusty, feel free to correct and post that cute fighting kitty again ]
  8. Agreed. I'd take a Lamda Professional + BHSE over a OII + SRM-252A anyday.
  9. Hope you don't have 8 or so big output tubes in your rig, as that 12A can get eaten up real quick.
  10. a certain someone could throw some in with a certain cable
  11. fixed that for you
  12. at least it's already cryo'ed
  13. nope, it flexes a tiny amount
  14. sweet. I really, really like the 14-pin silver Amphenol connectors I'm using for my electrostatic amps. I am now doing an external DC heater supply for a number of different applications and decided to use the new high current Neutrik connectors. I have some very heavy gauge cable (12awg x 4) that I'm looking to use: The cable I used for the above is an 8-conductor, each with multiple sized UP-OCC copper conductors. These are twisted around a center polyethylene core then housed in a rubber sheathing. I've starting liking to "build you own cable" using the Neotech cable products of late. Quite nice.
  15. better signal path separation?
  16. I'm fine with that as long as Church is mentioned as well.
  17. an 8-conductor umbilical cable: [img width=150 height=112 alt=P1010047]http://www.head-case.org/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1849&g2_serialNumber=2&g2_GALLERYSID=b2ba85e3d45c2872a9d85ea30129cccd [img width=150 height=112 alt=P1010045]http://www.head-case.org/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1852&g2_serialNumber=2&g2_GALLERYSID=b2ba85e3d45c2872a9d85ea30129cccd
  18. he actually did a fair amount of research into it how it would have to work and protocol involved.
  19. double negative
  20. sorry, omni people are sematically challenged ... you need to use the term "lobing" instead of "off axis".
  21. something about having a headphone output connected to a powered sub that made me do a double take
  22. yup, for Masters in Computer Science.
  23. I have nothing to add to this thread, other than a for Columbia
  24. don't forget about noise
  25. yes, in response to the above two posts there is a quandary on what to do, if you're looking for a true preamp. However, in Steve's case he's planning on using it as a integrated amp, not a true preamp. What about using the beta22 as a preamp into something like a Pass F4? In this case, there isn't any voltage gain in the amp, so it might be a match made in heaven.
