  1. seems that simply tinning both first (or at least the wire) then heating the wire up when it's touching the connector would be the ticket to success... that and some Panavise product.
  2. good book A few months back the guy who started ReactOS (http://www.reactos.org/en/index.html) gave a private info session where I work and showed us a bunch of cool kernel-mode exploitation techniques. Rad stuff.
  3. so, there's a sonic difference in the number of pieces the platform uses?
  4. anyways, all in good fun!
  5. I'm outta stuff, unless I want to start in on SONOS, EEPROM, etc... anyways, I don't get pissy about the memory / storage distinction because it's not a very clear line IMHO.
  6. DVD-RAM, "memory" or "storage"
  7. SSD, "memory" or "storage"
  8. 1T memory-mapped file, "memory" or "storage"?
  9. fine. Is a 16G ramdisk "memory" or "storage"?
  10. I'd say both. It was used as RAM, but is non-volatile, so the wins!!
  11. yup, I use his platforms on my wall mount racks...
  12. so, what's this, memory or storage:
  13. nah, check out the Timbernation products. Better quality and cheaper: http://www.timbernation.com/
  14. agreed. It just seems that since tweeters have relatively good off-axis response, and the upper end of the midranges have some break-up, that it makes sense to establish the listening axis with the midrange, especially when using shallow slopes, like I will be (first-order).
  15. just wanted to bump this thread, as I'm getting closer to finalizing the design for a pair of speakers. I've had great luck with placing the listening axis at the midrange driver. Of course there is no way to know what the speaker designer intended, but I would wager that this would be an interesting experiment for those with commercial stand mounted speakers. Here's the FR of the midrange driver I am using: [img width=150 height=91 alt=morel-mdm]http://www.head-case.org/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1999&g2_serialNumber=2&g2_GALLERYSID=ea03dac2fefb42c134d55fcca2b988df
  16. cheap and fast was the mini-star quad I got from them. Also, they accept PayPal, which was a plus for me
  17. yeah, I was the only bidder too... now on to finding nice thing bowl blanks for my pod. I need to find something under 10% moisture content and 3.5" or so think. Maple preferably. I've decided to go with the resin impregnation process after the pod has been roughed in. The company I"m talking to says maple will double in weight after the process. I have a few candidates on Ebay that have been drying for 3 years or so already, but the seller doesn't have a way to measure MC. I'll probably take a chance on them if the price is right.
  18. assuming you don't already have one by then
  19. 51 sq. ft of Wide Figured Makore Veneer
