yeah, I was the only bidder too... now on to finding nice thing bowl blanks for my pod. I need to find something under 10% moisture content and 3.5" or so think. Maple preferably. I've decided to go with the resin impregnation process after the pod has been roughed in. The company I"m talking to says maple will double in weight after the process. I have a few candidates on Ebay that have been drying for 3 years or so already, but the seller doesn't have a way to measure MC. I'll probably take a chance on them if the price is right.

just looked at my BH BOM and was around $75 fron boltdepot and fastener-express, so yeah it can add up... I'm still missing a few odd sized items too, like black socket drive 105 degree head screws, which are still unobtanium as far as I can tell.

yup, I had to add a filter to my DIY Xono. I can get the values if need be, as they were taken directly from a real production Pass Xono, where the filter is non-defeatable. Just let me know.

no, it starts off "bad" and gets amazing You're in for a ride. The main thing that gets so wonderful are the highs, and this why I love these cartridges so much. Tons of detail too... Analytical without being overly so. The bass will tighten up hen deepen and loose that woolly character it has now. I've been through the ride three times now. All cartridges were new when they got to me. I use a block of sticky tac on top of the arm to weigh it down and looking into fashioning some custom delrin headshell weight. My next tonearm will be a Moerch, but I'll still need the SB someday. I have a friend in town with the Galibrier Serac and XYZ UNIverse with a Triplanar arm. Quite an amazing combo. Wait, didn't you PM me about a DAC?

it's a wonderful cartridge. I haven't owned the Yatra, but I have had the Fuji and Airy cartridges and now the entry-level Bloom. If the silver basement was available for the Bloom, I probably wouldn't ever upgrade. I will warn you, there's a good amount of break-in. I think they really take around 250 hours to fully get up and going, but the first big change came around 75 hours. You'll notice it. Also, all of my ZYX really seemed to like 1.85-1.9g tracking and were extremely sensitive to changes in VTF. I could definitely hear changes in 0.02g increments. Did you go with the low output version? Congrats!!

yes, the temperature ratings are one important thing, but I worry more about things like output transistors. Actual die temperatures aren't something that you can easily measure, nor simply read off a component. If you're oversubscribing parts, then you're in uncharted territory. Whether the devices last a day, week, month, years is something that is unknown and is probably a function of how sane the designer was.

my rule of thumb is nothing (except perhaps tube envelopes) should ever be 15-20C above ambient. If you live in the frozen north, maybe higher, but I live in Texas

hm, $1000 is a really tough recommendation. I don't like the VPI Scout. I'd rather have a VPI HW-19 mk3 over the Scout... Anyways, I think for the $1k mark I'd go vintage with a custom plinth. Maybe a Lenco L75. There's one for $175 on Ebay, add a arm say Origin Live Silver or even a stock RB300 and then the rest for the restore... My $0.02...
