good catch. I've been guilty of strapping caps together and in general being too trusting of the sleeve providing insulation equal to the caps working voltage rating.
Man, I forgot to add 4 1000uF/50V Panasonic FM capacitors (P12393-ND) to my last Digikey order... anyone happen to have some on hand, or about to place an order and wouldn't mind shoving 4 parts into an envelope and sending them my way?
definitely possible, and seems like a good solution for you. You could work something out where you had the built-in DAC and then he ability to bypass it and use an external DAC.
lies!!!! it's my mod, all mine!!!!! mods, please delete this thread, or else I'll shut down the marce mod cash pipeline... i'll do it, I swear.
look at spritzer's APL output transformers, it's like covered from head-to-toe with copper tape... very shiny.
yeah, I've been on and off that list so many times. The only thing that gets me off the list is modding things like baby monitors and other "useful" electronics.
yeah, a very nice thermal adhesive too. I bought them from here:

I tried a few different ones out and found these to test the best. After cryo'ing the heatsink, you'll get about -.0001 C/W better as well. It's definitely worth it.
heh I like those heatsinks... beats the hell outta the Mouser / Digikey stuff.. I have some D2PAK form MOSFETs in my phonostage that could really use them. Nelson Pass had these mounted under the PCB and against the case and I didn't realize that until I finished my layout... yeah, they get real hot.
Hint: video card / BGA chip overclockers make cool stick-on heatsinks.

Did you ever write up a proper comparison of the Bugle to your new setup? I'd be surprised if it was 10000% better myself... I think the Bugle can really hang.. Then again, I don't care for SUTs really...
fftt.. he doesn't even use Dynamat. If I was going to use something, I'd use bituman sheets. I've used these for speaker damping and they kick the crap outta any other damping sheets. They are quite heavy, so it would make the customers feel like they're getting more for their money.
lol...
in all seriousness, this copper foil EMI/RFI tape from 3M is pretty sweet. I haven't tried it on any opamps, but the DACs I've used it (such as the TDA1543 in the picture) on I can definitely tell a difference. Here's a link to some general information. I plan on trying it to my PPAv2 opamps soon and will report back.
