  1. It still can be tricky, making sure the power supply heat sinks can cope, for example, even if there is extra current capacity in the PSU. I like to plan for 10% line fluctuation.
  2. Increasing it would be useful if you wanted to decrease a cap in proceeding gear (you asked if there was any reason, this is kinda obvious, perhaps I am not answering the question).
  3. Electra Print did. Ironically he stopped selling custom power transformers because the customer didn't understand how to spec a transformer.
  4. Jeff, like Stretch I am concerned about your best interests. I confirmed with the local boutique that your purchase was the correct one. That being said, I didn't like a single watch in there, ymmv.
  5. I figured you would play the "micro-clime" card here.

  7. I believe the issue has less to do with the manufacturer and more to the issues that Craig brings up regarding the difference between DC current draw and AC current draw. Too many people think that if the circuit draws 100mA then that's what the transformer needs to be spec'ed at, when it's much more complicated than that. Then they claim using "massively oversized" transformers as a feature when likely they just stumbled upon the right number. Also, failure to specify a particular temp rise and then holding the vendor to that number is another problem.
  8. Lots of CnC talk in this thread, so asking the question here... Given the number of DIY projects and kit CnC out there, what are the most current recommendations? I know several people have desktop CnC and would like to see what direction they would go if shopping in today's market.
  9. Also, just have your favorite retired DIYer build you the publicly released version, add whatever jack and knob you want. Done.
  10. It's a prototype. Let's hope it's sorted.
  11. Absolutely.
  12. I like the ability to heat stuff up in mine.
  13. This is why the relay was invented.
  14. * matched at Iq=0, Tc=my cold grubby hands
  15. Come to Sydney Jeff, lots of options here I offer watch burn-in services.
  16. I have some. Asking $1000 each.
  17. So by "help you source", you mean "sell to me". Gotcha.
  18. So you got my TICE jokes and references to -=her=-?
  19. As an engineer why not appreciate the art of accurate watchmaking? Surely one could be entitled to do so if they wished, whether they were an engineer by trade or not, notwithstanding their bargain-hunting skills.
  20. Curious if it was (mathematical) division or something like Twixt for iOS... I discovered Twixt when I had the exact same idea when reading HPA post about EXIF data. They also use the microphone (Kello for iOS), which might work well, who knows.
  21. Drats lost my post. How did you measure it so precisely? I just eyeball it and my 9F62 is still right on after a year or so. I think the temperature compensation and magnetic protection helps a lot to get that accurate.
  22. Excellent! A shame the knobs couldn't be symmetrical around the midpoint
  23. Heh never though about comparing EXIF data to watch times. I really enjoy the ease of having one high accuracy Quartz movement in the stable.
