A NATO strap would solve the issue, if you don't mind the extra bulk, even with watches that you have issues with. Allergies suck.

No kidding, right? Anyway, Rossliew: the steel Rolex uses, 904L, has more Nickel in it than regular old 316L, but it's tightly bound. I know people with severe nickel allergies who wear Rolex watches with no problem. I am allergic to both nickel and chrome, to the point where chrome tanned leather, like that Cartier strap, gives me a rash within 5 minutes, and I have never had a problem with a Rolex.

Of course, that is what we are talking about. I need to send mine to my strap maker, to see if he can make me a Horween Shell strap on the Cartier end links, as the straps, while very high quality, aren't vegetable tanned, so I can't wear them. Honestly? If I had it to do over again, I'd still get it in steel. It is the original aviation watch, and it keeps it a tool watch, in steel. My mother bought this watch for me, right before I had my cancer surgery (for what that was worth), and she offered to get me the two-tone that was in stock. It was nice, but I am glad with my choice. The two-tone, btw, uses this really gorgeous yellow gold that is nearly white, but not quite. The Santos is my favorite watch, even taking into account sentiment with some of my others.

Sam, you do realize you can just get a Santos, right? They go great with Adidas sandals.

That's not really much longer than I wait for custom straps from my maker, and he's my friend. It does take time.

I think the grey will look nice with it.

My GMT II is the same case (though an Oyster bracelet), and it doesn't really wear that differently from my much visibly smaller 1675 GMT Master.

The bracelet is the way to go, but it's worth the experimentation.

I found out a few days ago, but I still have cancer. It isn't going to kill me tomorrow, or anything.

Oh my god. Somebody reads Hodinkee! I mean, right? I have an excellent relationship with my AD, and I would be laughed out if I went in and wanted to try something. It's not like I'm going to buy one...

Cozy Speedy family. I'm taking a break from Apple Watches. This Speedy goes better with Japanese selvedge work shirts than any smart watch would. Hodinkee navy Horween shell strap with a 60s vintage Omega buckle. I wear the pre-moon on its bracelet mostly. It's nice having a second Speedy, for strap wear. And this is why I like 20/16 straps, as it let's me wear vintage buckles.

What taper did you choose for the strap? I always have 20mm straps made to taper down to 16mm.

First Man. It was incredible. Since I didn’t get to watch it in the theater, I’m glad I got to see it with a full HD projector in a 100 inch screen.

That movie was fucking amazing. I feel so glad that I got to meet the man.

How big of a dork am I that I put on my pre-moon in preparation for watching First Man? Mr. Armstrong presented me with my Eagle Scout badge; I'm very interested in seeing how the portrayal is, having actually met the man. I wish I had been able to see this in the theater, but at least I can watch it on large projection screen!
