  1. Hang Tough Brent. Today, Beer and Curry with a bunch of Brits, in SF. The Beer Part was at San Francisco's 2nd oldest Saloon Location. Bit of a dive bar, but no charge for my Diet Coke. can't complain. Actually I cheated on the whole beer part. While Joanne waited for the other Brits to appear, I treated myself to an Ice Cream at Humphry Slowcombe No bacon based flavor's , so I opted for Blue Bottle Coffee and Brown Butter. Om nom nom.
  2. Enjoy The Drugs Brent!, err get well soon
  3. Cheesecake & fresh raspberries on the deck. The sunset was suitably spectacular.
  4. Any comments on the Virgin (America) customer experience?
  5. From the BBC What do you get from a £10,000 music speaker? Why spend £1,000 on headphones?
  6. ^ The comp.risks forum archive http://catless.ncl.ac.uk/Risks has countless tales of emergency / backup / recovery / systems that weren't tested / didn't work / had failure modes that were only apparent the first time they were used. People who don't learn from others history are often doomed to repeat it. Indeed.
  7. ^ You'd get an extra "oo" in the UK Influential Synth Pop, and Alf can sing. True story: My sister once met Alison Moyet when shopping at the Tesco's in Basildon.
  8. Joanne says if you need any help, just let her know

  11. Does Colin know about your purchases? Some of that stuff looks like it's already pre-packaged for sous-vide-ing!
  12. Recovered from the after effects of a Transformer Fire that bowned-out then cut the power to our apartment complex , last night. Pro Tip - if your UPS's start bleeping, yet the lights are on, it could mean reduced voltage rather than just an issue with the circuit they are on. Remember this for next time rather than just repeatedly resetting the circuit breaker and wondering why it didn't fix the issue The light show from the pole mounted transformer fire was quite impressive, and when all the lights went out when the power cut, it was dark enough enough to enjoy looking up at the stars from the still warm heated pool, unhindered by light pollution for a change. We joked with our neighbors, that as Brits, now would be an ideal time to riot! Power cut also took out cable internet - even if the UPS powered cable modem + wi-fi router were still blinking their lights. Power came back before bed, so hot tea could be produced. But no internet, the horror! Rebooted + reset things in the morning when all the relevant lights were lit.
