My take on the OP's question: For $500, your not going to get anything that sounds world class or whatever, so I'd say get a pair of PX100 and a transit. Spend the rest on music. Every rig, no matter how lavish, can always use more music. Option B: Forget you have the $500, put it away someplace safe, then save up another $500. Repeat the cycle 3 more times. Then re asses the situation.

I tried to post "what are you listening to right now" (with pic) from ipone on the way to work on day, while someone else was driving. It was a no go, lol. It was having a hard time loading my Photobucket service, but everything else works fine. I have made some posts here from it.

If you havent done so already, I'd recommend skipping any case for it; my iphone doesnt have one, and the back is very scratch resistant. I just have a piece of film over the glass. Looks spot free, and I've had mine since around the end of June. People get truly possessed over ipod cases.

I only do so to avoid confusing ALAC with AAC or MP3. I try to put aac on the iphone, but sometimes listen via iTunes at home, which is when I need the ALAC. I try to convert everything I have in FLAC to ALAC, because I will need it eventually for ipod + iphone. But its getting to be a big hassle. I just wish iTunes could read FLAC.

I hate syncing. Im always deleting the library when switching formats and whatnot. Then you lose those playlists and have to sync again.

I didnt see tonights episode yet, but I've seen all the others. Good show. Last weeks episode was kind of slow though. But I can tell its going to pick up.

lol, I forgot to mention, the cost of the connector was not part of my $60 guess.

Me + soldering = fail I'm not really sure how much star quad HD650 wires would fetch; $60 was just a wild ass guess. How much is typical for those? If its much more, I figure just get A Pure Sound, since everyone seems to be raving about them. I just figured there more economical wires out there. But I freely admit, I have no idea what price point they would be.

no idea. $60? I just dont want another $200 chord. I'm rocking the stock chord right now...much better flexibility than my old Cardas. And the Cardas was too short. Plus I'd rather have something softer than the techflex type conduit of other designs.

Anyone feel like making me an affordable canare star quad cable?
