I got up, went to work and I'm still here... *sigh*

Tentative, but one set of Yammy HP-1s and a Wharfedale Isodynamic!! All for the princely sum of $75.

Srsly, the T50 is ferking amazing. I wasn't too impressed with these when they arrived on my doorstep but a bit of modding later and... oooh!
-
Oops, missed this one. Happy late Birthday!

Have a great Birthday!

Not yet, but my v2 hardly sounds like any v2 you'd have heard. They went from sorta semi-decent with odd sonic quirks to *holy crap on a stick* awesomeness!! :prettyprincess:

It would be very nice to have both an M^3 and a Beta 22 as work and home rigs and they'd be powerful enough to drive everything I have from the K1000 to 'Stats, 'trets and orthos. That's pretty much my dream setup, well, that and eventually a good USB DAC too as funds allow. I couldn't wish for better. *dreams a happy dream*

Hmm, I was only looking at about $200-250 as I'm way too broke for more than that. That's why I was looking at the DV Figaro or similar and also why I'm now into cheap but good phones and DIY-ing them up. The M^3 parts including PSU would come in just under the radar and I'm still pondering that one. I certainly couldn't afford anyone building one for me. I'm also looking into the potential of doing a swap of one of my K1000s for a good amp like a Beta 22.

Indeedy. The 880s I had years ago were harsh to the point of pain. On the pads, I sent Dan a set of SR-X pads for them, then I swapped the phones with my Lambda so the pads came back too The SR-X pads are a good fit and while the phones are not exactly comfortable, they work very well with only a small channel imbalance. Good as the ET's are they're still no match for the T50 which is awesomely great. I can't complain, they're a very nice set of phones and I'm collecting quite a varied array of planars now. I need to get a new headband cover from Beyer at some point to replace this tatty one and a new Stax cable.

Bah, I hate you Ok, I'll buy them. If I fuck it all up it'll be on your head, and If I get killed, are you sure your conscience can live with it? EDIT: waidaminit, I'm not doing this unless I have a complete idiot proof list of all parts including everything I'd need for the PSU as well. That's what got me flummoxed with the Gainclone. I can't leave anything parts-wise to chance or I just know it'll never get done. Is the PSU similar to the Beta 22 one?

Pah, like you don't!

Hmm, they must have sneaked into my head while I was in Germany! Those Germans think of everything

Gah, I've been looking at AMBs site and I'm just as confused as before. I think I'll just chicken out and buy an amp.

I'm finally getting a good listen to the Beyer ET 1000 and I like a whole lot! I think it sounds better than the Lambdas and stock Gamma or SR-X. Pretty damn impressive for a one-off old dog. I wasn't expecting it to sound anything like it does. They did a damn fine job of tuning it to my tastes, how did they know?
-
Thanks for that. I'll take a closer look at AMBs site and see what's involved. Oh and Spritz, if I asked before doing something stupid then it wouldn't be stupid and I have a reputation of stupidity to uphold

I would love an M^3, It's probably the ideal amp for orthos and I could probably put one together but would have no way to test or fault find as I know absolutely dick about electronics. Finding parts would also be a challenge because no-one has a standardized build and people swap and change parts as they see fit. I couldn't even nail down what transformer to use with a gainclone because everyone does it differently and unless you know, you don't know. Which is why even though I asked around I still have nothing more than a bunch of parts. I gave up through frustration. Belive me, I'd love to DIY it, I simply don't understand electronics. Old dog, new tricks and all that balls

I have the DIY abilities of a gnat. It'll have to be something ready made as I'm way too much of a doofus to ever think I could build an amp and expect it to actually work. I have a couple of options I'm pondering on now, also, I'm broke so options on ready mades are limited too. Gotta keep it cheap!

Introducing the GILTORDOV Mk1 A whole new amplifier featuring a fully integrated discreet all solid state tube design. Expensively cheap, designed and built in the United States of China to milspec standards. Available in black or silver with red nail polish accents.

Heh, I don't know why people get so fixated on a particular brand. It's a pretty retarded way of looking at things. I prefer to have one or two of all makes I don't know how powerful the LD amps are but I know the DVs are fairly strong. I do plan on buying an amp because I'm just not that savvy with electronics otherwise I'd have already built an amp myself. I'll investigate further on this. I guess I'm thinking the DV Figaro will be as good as anything else in that price range. Thanks for the offer Morph, I have no test gear and little knowlege so it would be wasted on me. I can't even figure out how to make my Gainclone boards work.

I thought it was about time my cheap ass got a cheap headphone amp (I wouldn't be so cheap if I wasn't so broke ) and due to the overabundance of orthodynamics in my collection I need something with a good bit of powah, so far the only ones I've found that are both cheap and powerful seem to be the Darkvoice amps @1w. I'm thinking the little Figaro or 336. I've heard and liked the 336 but heard not the Figaro and that one is cheaper and looks less vulnerable to my clumsy ways. Anyone here heard one and have an opinion of it as a smallish and cheap workaday amp or others similarly priced ($200 inc shipping) with enough juice to run orthos?

Woo, very scrumptious!! I imagine all those transformers weigh quite a bit. How tall are the big bottles?

So many noobs... what is with all the new members?!?

Reks is something a little bit different. Just don't go into his basement..... -
I totally agree too. Many women are easily distracted with stupid shit or doing stupid shit when driving. Am I bitter? You bet. Do I have good reason to be? You bet!
