  1. I'm really excited right now, I received a Fostex T30 in the mail today. Damn it's an awesome driver. The phones were in pretty ratty condition and not working on one side but a few hours downstairs fixed all that.

    K1000 = hope

That set and the set here are both low numbers and others who've heard other, later S/N pairs said my ones sounded better than any others they'd heard. It's also been said many times that early sets are more bassy than later ones though I can't confirm that personally. Nobody who listened to them noticed much deficiency in the low end, even in a room with L3000 and HP-2s etc. They're pretty damn nice phones.
  3. Cool stuff Steve, sounds like you're having a whale of a time with them. I should be getting my NAD back from Walt soon so it'll be fun listening to them again. I have to say, I'm really enjoying the Wharfedales and Fostexes too.
  4. Especially in a posh British accent, like the one I have
  5. Thermionic Valve sounds so much sexier than 'tube'
  6. Wow, that's just the cutest little thing.
  7. Jeez, what are those ugly looking things on his head?

I find it hard to believe he could do worse than Dombya. ... I sure hope not anyway.
  9. Mmmmm, thermionic valves sounds much better that tubes.
  10. Very nice writeup and a good read. Pretty much coincides with a number of other reviews on these I've read. Thanks WP
  11. Weeeee, another leftie here! Apparently I write differently from other lefties so I'm extra special I have to use quick drying roller ball pens or everything I write ends up smeared across the page and my left pinky gets covered in ink/pencil/chalk/crayon etc. I prefer keyboards myself for writing.

    Wet Shaving

I have a wet/dry electric so I can go through all the motions of having a wet shave without fear of accidentally and brutally cutting off my own head should I sneeze while shaving. I think over the many years of wet shaving with sharp objects I must have removed enough skin to provide a good sized leather jacket by now.
  13. Yeah, and watch your fucking language, there are wimmin here ya ball sucking knob-end. Jeez, some fuckers just have no manners.
  14. Bleh, that stuff is mundane. Thermal transducers is where it's at
  15. Enjoy the flight and the return home
  16. That is soooo cool! I knew there must be some useful purpose for nanotubes
  17. I just bought another batch of shrink tube, plugs and assorted shit from Redco and a set of old AT phones as donors. Also got some modeling putty/epoxy stuff to have a play with. It'll make a change from whittlin'
  18. Sounds painful. My day has been a day of hell with the outlaws. I think my head is about to implode
  19. So, is that, like, better than an SR-X with SRD-7? I have to admit, that's the biggest transformer box I've ever seen.
  20. Fostex T50 Smegma pro K1000 Sony ECR 500 Beyer ET-1000
  21. Actually, two seperate deals. Wharfeys from the homeland, the Yammys from elsewhere. I also have some Stax and something else being donated free by a guy in the woodshop. It's been a good couple of weeks
  22. Whut, you need a professional license to keep your circular hole cutting tech accreditation? Dude, that's just wrong!
  23. Walt you old fucker!! Great to see you here. You'll never guess what I found and am buying.... a set of Wharfedale Isodynamics *and* a set of HP-1s for $75 Oh Happy day
  24. Heh, if that's the one Young used to own, I actually got a look at it at one of the Seattle meets. Sadly he was short on time and packing up so I didn't get a chance to listen to it.
  25. What is it you have in mind, dare I ask.
