If you buy radioshack rechargeables they won't fit in the case...if i remember correctly, it's a bit of a tight fit i think.

I think it goes to itunes by default when it detects a library...you need to go into the slimserver software and point it towards your FLAC collections, like tkam said. Make sure you have the latest version of squeezecenter as well.

Well, i didn't buy it, technically, my wife did, a new 32GB iPod. It goes well with the new iMac she bought too

I was looking for a fanboy pic and came across this: Oh to be Jabba now that Spring is here.

No problems here.... is this on your PC or your Mac?

tkam: which apps do you speak of, I've liked a lot of the ones I'm using: 1) remote 2) AIM 3) Aurora Feint (neat little game) 4) Backgammon (although it kinda sucks) 5) Weatherbug 6) NYTimes All of those apps seem to work fine and do what I expect them to do. Of course I've never had a smartphone or PDA other than the Touch, so I have nothing to compare it to. I haven't had any freeze ups yet, but entering text on websites (like posting here) is doing weird things.

Looks like Apple just released 1.1.5 for iPod Touch as well: Apple Releases iPod Touch 1.1.5 Firmware - Mac Rumors Don't have to pay for it and early reports say it speeds up the interface quite a bit...no apps though

I use the Power support anti-glare film for the screen and back (mostly on the screen to keep finger smudges from getting in the way and it works like a charm. iPodTouch Antiglare Film I use and Incase Slider Case as well.... can you guess what color Slider Case for iPod touch : Incase Products I'm looking into more secure options for protection though:

Here's a gallery of screenshots of the app in action (yes you can now take screenshots of your apps on your iPod Touch or iPhone): .Mac Web Gallery

Well there are some 800 apps in the app store right now, but if you can't think of anything else you'd like to do with your Touch, then perhaps 1.1.4 will be good enough for now....2.0 is a little buggy right now, so you might want to wait for 2.1 or so if you don't care to have the latest and greatest as they say. I've got a .Mac account (now MobileMe) so it made sense since upgrading meant push services to and from the Touch (although they are a little buggy right now too). I'm sure Apple will hash it out soon enough.

some of the games are cool, like Aurora Feint. There's a Paypal app that allows you to send payments via your ipod Touch, but not request. There are various free news apps, NYT is a good one so far. Enigmo is a fun game, but you have to pay for it. There's a free backgammon game that's OK. Frankly the free lightsaber app is neat (for like 2 minutes). I haven't tried the Pandora radio app yet.

There haven't been any rumors I've heard of, but Macrumors keeps track of all product releases via their buyer's guide: Mac Buyer's Guide: Know When to Buy Your Mac, iPod or iPhone Unfortunately there are only two entries for the iPod Touch, the initial release and the bump in memory to 32GB. Their buyer's guide has been very helpful in the past, coupled with reading their site before planning a purchase. On two occasions I've held off buying gear for a month or so in order to take advantage of faster processors or higher capacity iPods getting bumped down in price. EDIT: Nate's comment: There's also a special where a student can buy a qualifying Mac and get a free 8GB iPod Touch or a free Nano with a $200 rebate. In the past Apple used promotions like this to clear out stock before a bump/upgrade. Considering that they bumped the iPhone capacity a few months after its initial release from 4GB and 8GB to 8GB and 16GB, it's possible there will be a 16GB and 32GB iPhone 3G and 16, 32 and 64GB iPod Touches.

payment sent...sorry for the delay Cheers.

yeah the lack of a removeable battery has been an issue since the first iPod. I really wish they sacrificed a little size concerns for removeable batts.

Whoa Mike!, BJ II, we don't need to know about your electronic love "toys"

Sorry to hear that mike....that sucks. Yeah the remote app is awesome.

downloaded 2.0 for the touch this morning. It's nice and frankly the free Apple remote app is worth the upgrade price. I'm running an Airport Express via wireless and using the touch to remotely control the tunes. The remote offers search and all the regular functions just like playing tunes on the iPod. This is exactly what I wanted. You can even have it control multiple airport expresses or add multiple libraries (different computers on your network)

Just got back from the Robert Plant/Alison Krauss concert. In a word: superb. It was great to get a chance to hear Robert Plant since I'm not old enough to have been around for Zeppelin. The duets were awesome and the Raising Sand stuff was so good. Really fantastic. But then.... a slow bluegrassy version of Black Dog. That's right, fucking Black Dog.... I damn near shit my pants until.... dudez............... they sang the Battle of Evermore. A small tear ran down our cheeks. Awesome show.
