  1. What I have found is that once you take out the apparatus that allows the bag to roll it is so much lighter that carrying is not that big of a deal. You also can fit more stuff if you are willing to shoulder a bit more weight. The bags popular in this thread are equipped so as to allow the most comfort possible while carrying a bag around an airport and considerably more comfort than when you have to carry the heavy rolling bag up and down stairs, which is usually when I regret them the most.
  2. Nice shot Falkon, is that the 17-40? Jon L, any daylight samples yet. That particular shot would need some pretty dramatic dynamic range to capture well. I have never used my 35 for that type of shot but have enjoyed it for typical street shots and portraits.
  3. Happy Birthday
  4. Carried the Metro today. With my other bags I have constant troubles with the strap slipping off my shoulders when I wear large coats. The strap did not move at all while walking or trying to read the iPad on the subway. I'm not exactly sure how it works but the strap alone might make this a better carry bag than my typical Tumi Townhouse bag.
  5. That is because the lens no speakee to the camera.
  6. The bottom two are the fisheye. You would think the top one was, but it is the Rokinon. Certainly not distortion free.
  7. Took a pair of UWA with me to work today. Not all that useful as a lens type but they can be fun.
  8. Thanks. I actually ended up downloading PTLens and it works perfectly.
  9. It should be but the scoop on the lens seems to be that in many cases setting it for 1-2 meters accomplishes better infinity focus than setting it to infinity so I spent a lot of time trying to find that sweet spot and gave up before I got it. Set to Infinity I could see in magnified live view that focus was off. If it wasn't such a cheap lens, reportedly capable of proving outstanding results, I would not have bothered but it will be fun to try to figure out I guess.
  10. Maybe a little bit closer to this one. Gitzo
  11. I would recommend if you do find the 600 dollars under a couch cushion that you get another brand's head as I really do not like my Gitzo head. The legs are excellent.
  12. I carry a larger bag than that as my personal item quite often.
  13. Depends on how you pack. The Airboss is a very good bag for the organized packer and the add on of the Metro makes for a secondary laptop bag which will come it handy for business travel. After playing around with the Airborne a bit I think I might use it more as a weekend bag than I will the Airboss and I tend to cram stuff instead of properly packing.
  14. I am trying to find a lens correction profile for Lightroom but the only thing I have found is all in German and I am not sure what to do with it. Tried MF on a distant object at night. Not very easy.
  15. Anyone using the IP Board app? Seems to work okay and allows notification alerts.
  16. Got a package from Amazon with some photo related gear. I picked up a Sanyo eneloop rechargeable battery kit after reading all the raves. These are seriously good batteries for the flash. Recycle is so much faster than with standard batteries. Got this funky Lensalign tool. Not a lot of description of how to do anything but the most basic MA calibration. I am not sure what all the other graphics, outside of the numeric scale, are even for. Used it to test the 85 and the 70-200. The Canon needed nothing on any of the bodies but the 85 needed a bit on the 7D. After calibrating, tested the Micro Adjusted lens on the new weird lens I picked up. I had the Bower/Samyang/Rokinon 85 for a bit and thought it was a really nicely built MF lens for the price. I picked up the 14 to try out as a landscape lens as I have seen some fantastic shots taken with this relatively cheap lens.
  17. Looked at my 70-200 folder and noticed every shot I have taken with it was wide open so I decided to go out in the cold and try it stopped down. Too damn cold to find anything interesting to photographicate so I just took pictures of crappy stuff. Full Pic 100% Crop Yellow floaty thing
  18. Happy Birthday. Hope someone got you that iPad you have been secretly dreaming about.
  19. That sucks. I never, ever use UPS if I have the choice.
  20. Yeah I thought the Sigma 85 was a bit slow but compared to the Canon it is an F1 race car.
  21. UPS did the same thing to me. Rescheduled for tomorrow even though I paid for 2 day. Red Oxx refunded my entire shipping charge even though I told them there was no reason to.
  22. E-mail that I received from Amanda at Red Oxx. "As for Corporate, you’ll just want to start with an email to witheld At this point you can’t do corporate online. There are so many things to consider with corporate, it would be difficult to do so on the website. Essentially, corporate offers free logo embroidery on orders over ten units. There is a one time set up fee that is anywhere between $25 and $55 for digitizing the logo, depending on how intricate the logo is. Any bag in our line up can be purchased as corporate and you can choose the colors as you wish. So, for example if your company colors incorporate Olive and Saffron (er-that would be yellow) we can build the bags to match with saffron zipper panels and olive mains. Also when doing corporate, you can choose to have only your logo on the bag and no Red Oxx logo. Or you can leave one of the two Red Oxx logos in addition to you own. Turn around time on Corporate is 30 days from final approval of logo sew-out. The bags are built to the order so they need to be scheduled in the production room. Thirty days gives us enough time to schedule the embroidery and production. So, if you have an in-hands date in mind, you’ll also want to consider 30-45 days for the order itself. If you have questions throughout the process, Tallon can help you out. Thank you, Amanda Markel" I can say that my dealings with Red Oxx up to this point lead me to believe that I will be a long term customer as their customer service seems to be fantastic. Vicki, I PM'd you with Tallon's e-mail address.
  23. Dan, the 18-55 is a good lens for typical shooting. The 16 is nice for indoors but not as good of a lens. I have not tried the big lenses or the adapter so I cannot speak to how it would do with non-kit lenses. High ISO seems to be handled very, very well by the NEX 5.
  24. Happy Birthday
  25. I think I would rather show up without hats and gloves than show up without pants.
