You don't get young club girls? I do...but that's probably more than you needed to know about my imagination.

I've heard K501's with decent bass...better than the R10, anyway...maybe not DT770 bass, but it was certainly adequate...and this coming from an unapologetic basshead.

It's not just cosmetic -- they had to redesign it to get all the lead out (literally). Admittedly, it's a very faithful redesign -- it's basically the same headphones made with lead-free materials. I thought they did something with the grill as well.

That's post number -- there's no mathematical formula for mapping post number to thread number without knowing everything there is to know about the site. So the only way is to try it. Try something like this: site:head-fi.org "Dusty Chalk" feedback and then instead of clicking on the links, click on "Cached". I only have one page of feedback, and it's the first one in my search; you guys may have more work ahead of youse. Justin, I can't figure out the exact search, but if you can figure out some text that shows up in peoples' public profiles, you can replace the above search's "feedback" with that text. "home page" "private message" "location" "occupation"? I'm not coming up with it. Oh, never mind, I found one, and all the usual public profile stuff like MSN, ICQ and whatnot isn't in there anyway.

No, I agree with boomana -- he's right if you take it at a "pop" level, but he's wrong to do so. Audiophilia has always been a niche market, and having mp3's vs. FLAC vs. DSD and high-rate PCM just points out the differences between the lengths people will go to to get high fidelity. Most people -- either out of having a low budget, or out of not caring enough -- will go the low fidelity route, but there will always be a subset of the population -- both out of elitism, and out of actually caring -- that will be interested in "better". He completely leaves the niche-ness out of his analysis, and thereby misses the mark.

Nothing like slathering on the ass-kissing to get on our good side -- well played! Oh, and "Miscellaneous" is probably the best place to ask about whole systems.

Oh, you'll know.

Audio Technica headphone question -- closest to leatherhead?
Dusty Chalk replied to Dusty Chalk's topic in Headphones
Follow-up: no worries, they finally got back to me, I'm in. -
First response: you're going to fit right in -- favourite newb of the weak week. Second thought: hey, wait, you do realize that alcohol is inflammable, and "inflammable" means very flammable, not "not flammable". So either you intend to go up like a marshmallow, or your approach is such that I don't understand it.

The word, "curmudgeon" comes to mind.

Rarum, Vols. 5 (Bill Frisell), 9 (Pat Metheny), 12 (Jack DeJohnette), and 18 (Eberhard Weber) (already have Vols. 1 [Keith Jarrett] and 3 [Chick Corea]...I think). I think I'm going to go all out on the rest of the Rarum series. Too bad they don't have a box set...(wanders off to check that there really isn't before committing)...ach du lieber and dagnabit, there is: I-VIII, IX-XX...I guess I'll have to return these.

Hey, I tried. Oh, and: pretty much anything else.

I usually do, but every once in a while I clear my history, then use just "head-case.org", which usually pops me straight to www.head-case.org.

Audio Technica headphone question -- closest to leatherhead?
Dusty Chalk replied to Dusty Chalk's topic in Headphones
Yeah, I know, the dollar sucks right now. That's why I want to push forth with this transaction -- before it sucks any worse. But still -- all they have to do is update their freakin' website with the correct amounts -- then I wouldn't have had anything to complain about. It's called "truth in advertising". They managed to update the prices on their headphones, why can't they update the prices on their shipping page? -
Sure, Vince, sure.

Audio Technica headphone question -- closest to leatherhead?

Any advice on dealing with BlueTin? I got a quote from them, and it was a bit more than what their website said, so I gave them a hard time about it. Then I asked for another quote (the 5 days had expired), and again, it was a bit higher, so I asked them to explain it to me again. Then I had them drop the A500 out of the quote (it was cheaper at audiocubes), and now I stopped hearing from them. Should I threaten to go to PayPal? They tried to charge me the PayPal fees (which I heard is against their TOS, but I can't find it). I wasn't going to go to PayPal (and I really don't want to), I just want the headphones. I may have sounded threatening, but I really don't care if they charge a bit more for the headphones, I just want a quote at this point and get the sale over with. -
I get a funny "subscribe to our newsletters...poz...realhealth...tusalad" page when I accidentally went to head-case.org --

No, your opinion of low impedance headphones get no credibility because you try to listen to them out of RSA amps. As I explained in the other thread.
-
64 ohms nominal vs. 25 ohms nominal. Ray's amps don't like low impedance headphones...or rather, low impedance phones don't like Ray's amps...or rather, people don't like Ray's amps when trying to drive low impedance headphones. I bet the difference would be a lot less audible even on an entry level goliath-killer like Headroom's balanced thingy.

Recommendations for low power SET amps for Avantgarde Duos
Dusty Chalk replied to deepak's topic in Speakers
AudioValve RKV with Impedanzer is intended to drive speakers...but it's not SET. -
Apache? As in RSA Apache? You should try a real amp. The bass via my Singlepower Supra++ is anything but loose and out-of-control as you described.
