  1. No, not as a garnish...you know how vodka is fermented potatoes, and wine is fermented grapes, and beer is fermented...uh...barley? I think beer is a family of fermented things, there's rice beer, and barley beer, and wheat beer, and so on...and tequila is fermented agave -- so is there one that's fermented olives? I had a really good olive last night, and I imagine it would be good, but perhaps there's something about it which prevents it from happening (quantity?).
  2. Comfortably_numb: I'm sorry to hear that. pabbi1: mebbe Raoul should be mascot, then? Can you get a shot of him wearing them?
  3. One has to admire their high-end stuff -- I mean, c'mon, Abbey Road uses them as reference speakers (801's, I believe). But yeah, this?
  4. [/lurk]Admittedly, most of the music does not "sound natural", but try listening to Cowboy Junkies' Trinity Sessions on a good pair of headphones and telling me that does not sound natural. "Sounding natural" -- as a system -- to me means that it replicates the live experience. I'm not going to pretend that this is a cut'n'dry with headphones, as (a) there are very few binaural recordings, and you have ( your entire upstream chain to contend with, and © the concern as to whether or not the recording is an accurate recording, in that on some hypothetical perfect reproduction system, the output would match the input.[lurk]
  5. I'll see if she likes headphones -- I have a feeling not, in which case, she could only be a mascot to that subset of people who prefer speakers.
  6. Well, it looks like it works, but it tells the user to download the file, so I presume it is up to the user (and their configuration) to have an application to watch the video or whatever.
  7. My other sister's cat, Frank, as a museum piece
  8. Oblivious? Did you mean: obvious?
  9. Zillamatic Leave it to Nixon to do something that I hadn't even thought of yet -- a black skeleton. Goddamn, that is a thing of beauty. EDIT: Oh, and they made an all-black 51-30: I might just have to make a trip up to New York for that.
  10. What entry? If it's the head-case entry, then someone is fucking with us. We should put a call in to wikipedia, and get that traced back. If it's the head-fi entry...well, technically, even that entry is public domain, and the head-fi martinets shouldn't be allowed to take it out, but then, it's wikipedia, so anyone can do what they want. Technically, it's not advertising, but I could see it as being not apropos to the head-fi entry.
  11. Yeah, there's that, too -- and it's still positioned in a way that allows for breathing room, so there are plenty of pros about the positioning as well.
  12. You're not -- that's the first thing I noticed...at first I was like, "well, that's an unorthodox tube placement...cool", but then I was like, "...but not very utilitarian". Oh, well, if it sounds as good as people say it do, it wouldn't be a show-stopper for me. Just a niggle.
  13. Wrong dimensions.
  14. I prefer to thinking of it as "posting a follow-up".
  15. Raoul is gorgeous! He reminds me of Frank (I'll post a vid of Frank later), one of my other sister's cats. And the kittens are cute, too.
  16. Musical Fidelity A308^CR power amp -- got it for my Dynaudios, which I am in all likelihood selling, but I should still be able to use it on other speakers. It's always good to have at least one good muscle amp lying around. MSB P8000 power supply for multiple DACs -- this was back from before I decided to stick with single box universal players and such, so I may not be keeping it
  17. Yes, you're right, I probably should have specified to keep things in the digital domain.
  18. Does it do .3g2 (which is a variant of quicktime)? I'll give it a try later. I have some more kitty videos.
  19. That's, like, your opinion, man... The default suggestion if you listen to CD's is the Behringer.
  20. Record cleaning machine?
  21. Pretty much where I am. That said, I can't argue with Kevin -- one should be able to call someone out for running websites so shabbily. It should be said -- I know everyone's thinking, "oh, he probably learned his lesson", but there's a difference between knowing something, and hearing someone else say it to your face. Repeatedly. Ad nauseum. Lots of different people. I suspect the correct phrase is "lazy ass". It was laziness that made him not do something -- anything -- about his backups. He knew better, and he just didn't do it.
  22. Nothing -- just get a standalone equalizer. It shouldn't be built-in to the amplifier, so that the consumer didn't have a choice.
  23. I second the Singlepower recommendation. EarMax Pro would be another potential <US$1K solution.
  24. Yeah, that's it -- Stacey Q, not Suzie Q.
