  1. Gesundheit! With what company, if I may ask?
  2. Those aren't quilts, those are "room treatments". Hey, if those sound as nice as they look, then they...uh...sound real nice! No, seriously, report back -- I'm looking for an omnidirectional speaker, and might consider a dipole. Please especially let me know how the off-axis response is.
  3. To what, to itself? Then yeah -- super glue.
  4. Call? Nag? Hey, it could be worse -- it could be McAlister that you're dealing with.
  5. Yeah, we tried it -- it's a mixed bag, and it's not a one-to-one correlation with the amp. Some amps just don't work well with it, some do. Some of the best sound I ever heard with a HD600 was with a Krell KAV-300i (?nomenclature) through the ASL thingy. Some of the worst was with a Jolida JD102B (bass was insane). In real life (I.E. with speakers), I prefered the Jolida enough to keep it, got rid of the Krell. UHC-1 -- yeah, that sounds right.
  6. There's also a product by ASL called...um...I forget...I have one...somewhere...
  7. You mean, Michigan. And yeah, what everyone else said -- if I had US$5K and lived anywhere in the area, I'd be all over this.
  8. link So, apparently you can turn your head, and the source will stay over there. Cool, huh?
  9. Congrats! Glad you're happy with it. Yes yes review review!
  10. They look nice enough -- how do they sound? Dipoles, huh? How much? Give us all the gory details, inquiring minds (as well as enquiring minds) want to know!
  11. So...it was good?
  12. That's fucked up, I hate when other people do that. When I do it, though, it's forgivable. Reminds me of that movie Shiver -- you probably have cameras in every square inch of your apartment now.
  13. Actually, now that you phrase it like that, yes. So I think just plain reparation would be preference #1.
  14. Dude, I just noticed your sig -- you own an Infiniti? Love those FX series vehicles they have. Oh, and Philodough -- huzzah.
  15. Actually, this joke of pedantry is kind of lost on me, since I actually do listen very quietly. But -- yeah, you know what I mean, no external amplifier. See? Thanks for all the offers everyone. I'm going to see what I can find out about getting it repaired from an Audio Technica serviceperson first, I'm also going to crack it open and see how difficult it might be to recable, but right now I'm waiting to hear back from audiocubes.
  16. Yeah, I saw the GRQ S S -- thanks for the warning about soldering. And yes, it definitely needs fixing -- it works right now, but I'll be using it minimally until I can get 'em fixed. Haven't decided on recabling them, though, going to look at them tonight based on inside info in terms of getting into them. Fuck you, they're good. Probably my favourite unamplified headphone.
  17. Fuck, I tripped over my headphone cable of my ATH-A100Ti, and bent/broke the plug. I also broke my soundcard in my computer, but care a lot less about that, since I usually use an external one -- I don't think I'll get that fixed. So I'm thinking: rewire it! So what's the best 1/4" plug out there right now? Does Cardas make one? Or should I just get any old one? Should I also recable my headphones while I'm at it? Or should I sent it back to audiocubes or eifl for fixing? Can that even be done? Actually, just tested it out on a different connection, it appears it still works, must be the soundcard that got disconnected on one channel.
  18. You fuck, don't even post spoilers. I read this board backwards, so I don't see the warning until after I see the end of the post. At least put a warning at the end as well.
  19. I hate you both.
  20. This thread is just yet another excuse to talk about music, so if it's something you feel worth talking about, feel free.
  21. Just got back from Sleepytime Gorilla Museum w/Secret Chiefs 3. SC3 sucked -- they just don't translate well live, or I was in a really bad mood, but SGM were awesome -- I went in mostly cold (had never heard them before except I think there's a track on a sampler, but I knew pretty much what they were like). Recommended only to people who are open-minded and are into weirdness, as this is some pretty fucked up shit. Think Unexpect without the caffeine, or maybe Mr. Bungle from an alternate universe where...I don't know, something is different...a butterfly flapped its wings or sumpin'...
  22. It's like Christmas in March...no, wait, you don't celebrate Christmas...it's like, birthday presents from yourself to yourself, like a time machine traveller, "here, I left these here for you." You should put a silly note in one of your boxes of tubes for your later self to find later and say, "hey, I don't remember writing that..." I have the same problem with CD's...
  23. I can vouch for this. I can also tell you you do not want Hirsch's tube storage solution. You may want his problem, but you do not want his solution. Of course, you don't want mine neither -- I have mine all spread out over the guest bed right now.
