  1. Yeah, I wasn't being entirely serious. Just pretend I'm one of those know-it-all pub lifers.
  2. ...so...with Great Britain, then, innit? I mean, if Great Britain failed at leaving the EU, then they're still part of the EU, aren't they? Sorted.
  3. ...in your country. It's "(Keep Feeling) Fascination" by Human League. The lead synthesizer has this funny little out-of-tune warble to it, but it works (for me). The mix is what's interesting -- everything these days is put through reverbs and cab emulators and room simulators and produced all to hell. This sounds like it was run straight into the desk (as a lot of synthpop those days were). It gives it this raw edge that I hardly ever hear any more. How about this one:
  4. Couldn’t tell. Related: I heard this the other day and was really digging the groovy, hip synthesizer tone.
  5. Happy almost belated birthday! (party favour noise)

    I’ve been practising, so I’m a 1.
  7. Don’t worry about it, this isn’t Discogs.
  8. Finally finished Blood of the Gods by David Mealing (Book 2 of The Ascension Cycle). Can't wait for book 3. Resuming The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss (Book 2 of The Kingkiller Chronicles).
  9. I found it! Unrelated: https://m.facebook.com/events/238690053688857?ti=icl
  10. Rocklands brisket again
  11. A gorgeous swath of mostly ambient electronica: https://headphonecommute.com/2019/04/09/a-strangely-isolated-place-reflection-on-2018/
  12. Joep Beving, Henosis — this is sublime...piano...electronica...melancholia...ambient...listen to what he’s doing in the background And this is just ridiculously beautiful: And this puts me in mind of Delia Rodriguez and Gavin Russom
  13. Trevor Horn Reimagines the Eighties featuring The Sarm Orchestra (Instrumentals) — egad, this is horrifying, it’s like a demo reel for a cheesy synthesizer
  14. I don’t really have a type. I find lots of women beautiful. I just wrote that in case she was reading it.
  15. And goddamn if she isn’t even more beautiful than when she came out with her first solo album.
  16. I did very much actually. She’s been doing that plaintive, vocal-forward pop her entire career. I actually kept up with her up until Safe Trip Home. So started listening to her back catalogue in reverse order: Girl Who Got Away, Safe Trip Home, Life For Rent, No Angel. I mean, nothing matches “White Flag” or “Thank You” or “Here With Me”, but I still liked it as much as anything else of hers.
  17. Was: Jocelyn Pook, The Wife soundtrack Is: Dido, Still On My Mind Will be: what will be
  18. First of all, JESUS FUCKING CHRIST! That’s worse than our conspiracy of one, Trump. An actual secret society?!?!? But I still don’t fully understand what religion has to do with isolation or isolationism. Or is it less religion and more throwback?
