Not sure why you have trouble understanding it as an instrument -- it is monophonic -- like most every wind and brass instrument -- and it isn't fretted or stopped -- like a guitar or saxophone, more like a violin, cello or slide whistle -- and it has a purity of sound that I rather enjoy. (I have a friend who went to Bob Moog's workshop and built her own, and she did an extra careful job and it was voiced like a Minimoog -- it was delicious. I haven't heard another that sounded quite like it. Most of the recordings I've heard didn't have the midrange body that this one had. It was thick and girthy. That said, I still really do like the sound of any and all synthesizers, including the theremin. Me: Chiu, complete Prokofiev solo piano music or whatever it's called Damn, I love this stuff. Such a beautiful sense of melody harmony and dissonance. I need to write more dissonance.

More listening, actually, except when I hear laughter but nothing funny, so I'll look to see...

It depends whose hands control it. Look up Clara Rockmore, she was the original virtuoso.

More comfort food -- chili, chicken noodle soup, etc.

Tangerine Dream Bootleg Series That said, I love Romantic Impressionists and late Russians (ahem), so I may have to put my Chiu collection of Prokofiev and ... I don't know, some things by Ravel, Satie, and Debussy.

Billy Bailey's "Variations on a ringtone" only lasted about 24 hours as my ringtone. Now it's this: Take that, coworkers who are constantly playing YouTube out loud on your laptops. -

I actually laughed out loud when he goes in one doorway and comes out another. -
Comfort food—chicken with garlic sauce, spring rolls (not greasy), steamed dumplings (enormous, a meal in itself), and a large hot and sour soup (all over the course of the last 24 hours) Feeling a lot better, too.

He’s fucking brilliant. I recently watched the episodes of Is It Bill Bailey? that are on YouTube, and he did so many music related bits... sorry -
Here's to hoping you have enough push-blower-fuel to get you through your tough times. Also: pretty colors! (Dusty semi-swoons)

Well that was surprisingly easy -- I picked the perfect time to shovel: just warm enough that it wasn't sticking to the pavement or sticking to itself in large blocks of ice, but cold enough that I wasn't shoveling water.
