Steven Wilson, in his newsletter, included the album Void/Dance amongst his favourites of 2015. Two of my friends who are on said mailing list (why am I not?) immediately thought of me upon hearing it. (all dreamy like) Yeah. https://3six.bandcamp.com/album/void-dance

Happy belated! (slightly sad & lonely party favour noise -- a day late and a breath short)

Yeah, absolutely in agreement on the bolded section. Man, I couldn't do that. To me, it'd be more like a deadline, I'd have to wrap up whatever I was working on and make sure it was finished to the point I could turn the reigns over to someone else before I passed. I mean, without deadlines, I'd get nothing done, so if/when I finally release a recording, expect my imminent death to follow. Don't worry, that's not as morbid as it sounds, I haven't even started into pre-production.

No, he's been battling cancer for 18 months, so he was already 6 months in when he recorded it, I think it's the other way around -- it was a -- very deliberate, admittedly -- swan song. A "going away gift", as it were.
-
Apparently, this was all according to plan. He was a fucking artist to the end. He recorded it in the early months of 2015 and saved releasing it until his death was imminent. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/celebritynews/12092542/Bowies-last-album-was-parting-gift-for-fans-in-carefully-planned-finale.html

Yeah, I thought you of all people might be interested. Yeah, I've got some iDollars, will check it out, thanks for the rec. There were several other apps gone over, too, I should hurry up and rewatch the video and make a catalog of which ones I want. I loved that feedback algorithm, although I already have a pretty sweet feedback sound in my Roland JP8080.

Blackstar is sublime, a masterpiece of a swansong, but it's too short to listen to over and over in one day -- supplementing with some older catalog. Alright, all of the older catalog.

This made me laugh on an otherwise emotionally bleak day. -
He made 'pushing the envelope' cool. An important influence that I have serious doubts could ever exist in today's market. He will be sorely missed. RIP, Bowie

So there was a limited run by "Wired Guitarist" of PRS SE Custom 24 sixes and sevens. This was several months ago. They've just started delivering to the retailer. I got one of the purple ones.

Relistening now He's saying, "aboop".

Yeah, it's like someone bukkaked all over my Facebook feed with mentions of this and his birthday (today, BTW). I need to hear this.

Opeth -- all the recent stuff since -- Pale Communion, Watershed, Ghost Reveries, Heritage.

Black Mirror: White Christmas was delightfully bleak "http://icanhas.cheezburger.com/" is legit.

Unholy carp, that was fantastic. I don't remember liking season 8 very much, too cold war-ly, but this was even more cold war-ly, mayhaps sometime between then and now I "bought in"? Anyway, may revisit season 8 at some point, see if I got over myself. Or whatever it was, the problem.

A Very Murray Christmas -- which is delightfully bleak -- and Miley's voice stands out (in a good way), although I dare say that her mic costs probably 100x what the other ones cost (and is probably overdubbed).

https://badbadnotgood.bandcamp.com/ They call themselves "hip-hop jazz", but I don't hear the hip-hop, so I'll call it urban post-bop. RIYL: GoGo Penguin, Snarky Puppy, et al
