  1. Yeah, fuck that, all of mine are on Facebook. Soz.
  2. They installed new A/C / Furnace. I babysat. Now I'm fried, so I go Phase 6 Asleepyness.
  3. (squints) Used IEMs? (involuntarily shudders)
  4. Lollers. When I told someone on head-fi that I didn't think I could listen to Merzbox, someone called me a wimp. I lollered. Heck, I smile a little bit inside just thinking about it. Yeah, pretty sure I can't do the Throbbing Gristle, neither, and if anyone calls me a wimp for that, well, that says more about you than it does about me.
  5. Whoa, VII?!?!? I'm behind...(resolves to catch up)...
  6. Exactly. Sometimes I enjoy nee crave that kind of writing. Although... ...when they're being marched with the soldiers in episode...12?, and the Marauder asks, "where are you?" "On our way to dinner, apparently" sounded like they were making fun of the soldiers' uniforms.
  7. Dark Matter -- I love the writing on this show: Five: He seemed happy here. Three: He seemed nothing. That guy was harder to read than that book he gave me. One: That book is a classic. Three: Whatever. Pig's a wimp. Spider's a know-it-all.
  8. NPR's First Listen has some winners this week. Son Little, in particular, is some tasty soul.
  9. (Etsy shop) Marshmallows: The filming of MGM's famous opening credits:
  10. Soon -- not this weekend, obviously. Was moving a bunch of stuff into storage, passed my downstairs neighbor. She asked me if I played guitar (I was holding a guitar box). I replied in the affirmative. She said she really liked it, it really mellowed her out, keep up the good work, and other, positive, affirming type things. So...that was nice. I mean, it's sort of bad that she can hear me at all -- I play kind of late, didn't realize she/they could hear me all that well -- but at least she doesn't hate it. I'll make sure to watch my volume after hours. I'm just practicing scales. Which is funny, when I practiced piano as a kid (still living with my parents), whenever I practiced scales or arpeggios, my mother would ask me what piece that was -- I think she loved those the best.
  11. Nick Beggs, the "ghost" of the Royal Albert Hall -- posted by Nick Beggs Glass igloos for watching/sleeping under the Northern Lights.
  12. This is awesome. It balances that same delicate point between that slow, funereal, stoner metal without being emo about it, and Pitchfork indie hipster -ism. Haven't heard that since that Black Mountain album.
  13. Lollers, it's no bigger than Utah:
  14. It goes without saying.
  15. Nice! Do you want to borrow some of mine? You have to try several of my favourites. Yeah, I tuned the lower 2/3 of the fretboard slightly sharp (my app -- -- has digital "needle" style tuners) -- just going visually, since I can never get it exactly right anyway -- and the top 2 strings slightly flat, just to play the easy minor E chord, and it's pretty friggin' sweet. I'll try your way next. The WEEDed BD-2 is pretty nice. Also, what in tarnation is that round thing?
  16. Facebook -- I have some great friends. "Duck Pipe" is particularly brilliant.
  17. You ate a little girl next to you? Now I'm impressed.
  18. Finished Blacklist (season 2), I see that Homeland has a new season out, need to start renting those disks. Gave up on Zoo after second episode -- just too much fake science exposition. Not sure why it annoyed me so much, but just gave up. Reminded me of reading Dean R. Koontz. Started Dark Matter -- poor man's Firefly, I'm liking it so far. Lot cheesier, but enjoyably so. And watching Zoie Palmer (whom I don't think emotes a whole lot in Lost Girl) act emotionless as an android. Also, second shortest opening sequence (after Blacklist).
  19. Karl Hyde, Edgeland -- doesn't sound anything like Underworld. Redshift, Life to Come -- spectacular, this might be their best yet. Antimatter, The Judas Table -- this is better than Fear of a Unique Identity, but now I'm listening to Timeline -- An Introduction to Antimatter, and the old stuff is still imminently listenable. I still think Judas Table will go into regular rotation with the others.
  20. At first, it looked like one of those enormous capacitors, but then I saw the knob...autoformer? Just guessing, feel free to yell "newb" and move on.
  21. Lollers. I have bought exactly one cassette in the last umpteen years, and it was part of Boris Blank's multimedia box set -- CD, vinyl, etc. A British friend of mine was hired because he was an audiophile and he had a cassette deck, so he could "DJ" the release party. I do indeed have a working cassette deck, but would be hesitant to use them for anything other than transferring to digital, as I've had bad luck with magnetized heads reducing the fidelity of a certain favourite commercially recorded cassette (does anyone remember SSQ? They had two tracks on the cassette that weren't available anywhere else -- there were others, of course, that's just one of the more memorable ones -- one of the two tracks was a fantastic instrumental...but I wax nostalgic...).
