It's funny they don't mention the material's name, which I had memorized -- "Vantablack" -- I want a limited edition Moog in Vantablack. You know me so well. Thanks again, everyone!

The problem is that bass energy conducts much better through the floors than treble energy. I currently use my Equator D5 as overheads, and at the volumes I usually listen at, they're already pretty bass heavy and I still have to keep it down. Really, anyone that enjoys blasting it once in a while (guilty, I) shouldn't live in an apartment or townhouse, and/or should get a large vocal booth.

Thanks -- I was expecting there to be another in-theater season debut. I know what I'm doing over the next several days. Oh, and add Man in the High Castle Fuck this, I need to cull.

Is that based on the movie? :allinnocentlike: Also, between installments of Indexing: Reflections, I'm reading Dead of Night by M.R.Forbes, the story of a terminally ill necromancer who does covert, high-paying jobs so he can afford to keep taking his "medicine" -- I'm actually quite enjoying this so far. I think I just love urban fantasy, especially when it has a dark element or a sarcastic character somewhere. There's a scene where he's talking to one of his reanimated dead about the afterlife,

I'm really liking it. I love the turn on a dime from light to somber to downright dark... Yeah, I'll add Supergirl, that's a must-see, thank you for that. And I need to start watching One Punch Man. (It's on Hulu -- hooray!)

Shure KSE1500 – Electrostatic Earphone
Dusty Chalk replied to Leonardo Drummond's topic in Portable Audio
What? I don't have the Grado statement whatevers. Not a Grado fan. I do have the PS-1, which are the heaviest, but not the biggest...unless you meant driver diameter, in which case, I don't know and if so have no defense -- didn't get it because it biggest, got it because it sounded great. -
Nice -- went looking, already determined I like him. Hadn't yet uncovered that he was an Erased Tapes artist -- I've been having nothing but good luck with them.

Argh -- too many shows: Arrow, The Flash, iZombie, Castle, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Gotham, maybe The Muppets...and presumably Doctor Who is going to resume at some point, I didn't miss that, too, did I? I don't even have time to catch up on my "wait 'til the DVDs come out" shows -- Game of Thrones, Continuum, Lost Girl, etc. -- and the upcoming AKA Jessica Jones.

Ended up enjoying both Tim Powers just fine, thank you very much, but it's more just "very good action science fiction", not that classic WTF vibe that Tim Powers does so well. Red-Rose Chain was, indeed, fantastic. Almost finished Ghost Story from the Dresden files by Jim Butcher -- unholy carp, this is an awesome follow-up to Changes -- and yet completely different. I was just thinking there was no way he could match Changes, that he had peaked, but he did the smart thing and didn't try to match it or write a sequel, he just wrote something completely different.

Shure KSE1500 – Electrostatic Earphone
Dusty Chalk replied to Leonardo Drummond's topic in Portable Audio
Right, there's a whole culture -- not just those locales that purk pointed out, but there are many of us who just don't have that "bigger is better" attitude, and we don't see any reason why a small setup can't provide just as high fidelity an experience. -
Dusty like. Is the rest of his stuff any good, or is this one of those artists I'm only going to end up liking the one track...?

Belated happy birthday! (in this time zone, anyway) (party favour noise)

I'm hungry. Remind me not to open this thread again. Ever.

There are many of us who don't like to leave our setups at work, and take them home every night. -
You make them sound so simple.

Still want to move to Chicago, Jeff?

Yeezh. Glad it wasn't worse.

Thanks, guys! I'm pretty sure I've long since been superseded by whiteboards and dry erase markers.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wickedplayingcards/wicked-tarot-playing-cards Pamelina H. makes Tarot cards. Why do I care? Well, I love "cool" symbolism, and the Tarot is cool (case in point, the 10 of Swords). Also, there's a small chance I will win this guitar:

I'm going to die before I retire, so I should probably only put in to get my matching.

Thank you, all! All those pictures are great, you all know me so well. It started out kind of hungover (just a little bit -- I got a little carried away and drank the entire bottle of Enchanted Path, and it's been a while since I drank that much), but the day has otherwise been laid back and very enjoyable. I just had a pizza, and now I'm going to eat an eclair. That's fine, I've got some more. I'll probably just stick with gin and tonics and splashishes, tonight, though. I don't think wine goes with eclairs, and I don't want to "accidentally" (air quotes) drink an entire bottle again, not two days in a row, so not even starting.

Wait, what? (wanders off to look up google florence (austin-city-limits OR acl)...) I actually quite like her music, too.
