  1. We usually lose people when they receive their JH Audio IEM's. For at least a couple days, if not a couple weeks.
  2. Wouldn't a finer grind release more flavor when putting a final garnish on a meal? As opposed to cooking with it. I think I would want both -- a coarser grind for cooking, a finer grind for flavor as a last minute garnish. Oh, and agreed -- thanks for posting, very helpful.
  3. Yup -- accidentally turned it on and couldn't figure out what that stupid tab was that I couldn't get rid of. Have since figured out how to turn it on and off at leisure. Don't use my phone enough to have found a legitimate use for it yet, though. The one you describe seems a good one. Yeah, I'm tempted to jailbreak my phone -- if for no other reason than to get rid of that stupid NFL app. But I'm hoping that the developer edition comes with a development kit. Plus, I prefer the 'legal' way if I can afford it.
  4. I've had Avast! set up for years, but now that you mention it... (wanders off to upgrade from free version to paid version)
  5. http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SCH-I605MSAVZW'>Samsung Galaxy Note II, developer edition You know, I just got mine about 10 days ago, I wonder if I could upgrade it without additional cost (meaning as if I never upgraded to the non-developer edition). Sent them (both Verizon and Samsung) a query to that effect.
  6. I'd still do it -- those SSD's are proprietary.
  7. I can't look at it right now because I'm at work, but http://jhaudio.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=1604b07614171d4f9df75011d&id=af1f19b567&e=7685e29fa8'>JH Audio just posted some sale on Facebook.
  8. What about all those people who see all those images without committing violent crimes? I'm sorry, I mean all of us people...no, it's not that bad an idea, but it would be more fair to tax something that is known to cause dysfunction -- parents.
  9. And it starts... No, dude, seriously, sympathies. Just...don't get anything else, okay?
  10. Pretty!
  11. (dun-dun-dun)
  12. Yeah, and you're not alone. But it's a preference thing, not unlistenable. If you're at a party and have no control over the airwaves...it'll do.
  13. Don't confuse compression for brickwall compression. Especially with rock and roll. I mean, Vapour Trails was horrible. HORRIBLE. There was brickwall compression before it even reached final mixdown (yo dawg...). They just didn't know what they were doing. Snakes and Arrows was much better, despite its poor showing in the DR database. At least it was listenable. If you want a textbook example of why brickwall compression is bad, and regular compression is not as bad, listen to those two albums critically back-to-back. I should mention that it depends entirely on the style of music. Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits is sweet sweet music, and shouldn't be compressed all to hell, even non-brickwall. One would want those dynamics to sing through.
  14. The future is now.
  15. I don't have a problem with the government knowing what I have...except when they try and take it. So I have mixed feelings on that subject. In principal, I am not against any gun registration, and I didn't realize there was any kind of differentiation between used and new -- I don't have any problem with them being the same. I also don't have a problem with stricter requirements for higher power guns. I.E. I live in Woodbridge, I should get a shotgun. And a back holster. And learn how to reload quickly, and under duress. Dan lives in the sticks, he should get a bear-stopper. My sister, when she lived in Alaska, needed the appropriate type of defense against mooses. And by that I don't mean a spray. And in principal, I understand the household extension...except then you have to start worrying about everyone who can break into my apartment. Should everyone who can access my apartment get a background check? What about burglars, should I be declined access just because I could get burgled, hence my weapon could end up in the wrong hands?
  16. Awesome, there's a whole DVD of that. Also: lollers at the company I keep.
  17. Ban eagles!
  18. It's nice to have alternatives, but I'll stick with mah Infinite Dark. Thanks for doing that, Todd.
  19. That's very noble of you, but what you should be saying is that if the need to further limit everyone's rights will ensure the safety of children you'd be happy to do so, but you have to realize that not everyone feels the same way. Another facet to the problem is the assumption that it will help. What if it doesn't? Sorry, as long as we have drug cartels right across our border, I have a hard time believing it necessarily will, but I've got no problem with them forming a study to make that determination. Even so, I will be just as sad every time I hear about someone getting caught in the crossfire of a gone postal incident, act of terrorism, home invasion, armed robbery, etc., I think it's more tragic when someone could have defended themselves and were prevented from doing so by you lot. And lastly, I realized overnight that part of my problem in discussing this with you all is the company the gun control proponents keep. Namely, other gun control proponents. They seem just as emotional and presumptuous as the new ones are. So I'll try to keep my cranky manopausal comments to a minimum.
  20. I just want to point out that I do not disagree with this. If I've been stressing the "let's not over-react" part, that is a mistake in my communication. I've got no problem with addressing them, which starts with exactly this discussion.
  21. The only one that looks brickwalled is the 2000 JVC XRCD. Am I wrong?
  22. No, this is exactly what I was talking about -- acting for the sake of acting, because we're emotional. I disagree with exactly that concept. Whatever we do, it needs to be thought out and reviewed and unemotional. If we change laws for the sake of changing laws to "try something", as a reactionary measure, that's exactly the sort of emotional law-passing that I am against. Not just not feel the same, against. Go ahead, call me cold, if that helps.
  23. I don't know. Do I look like I have all the answers? I don't -- that's one reason I don't have kids. Because I know that being a teenager is hard, feeling suicidal/homicidal hard sometimes, and I'm sure I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between being actually suicidal or homicidal, and just being a teenager nobodyunderstandsmeshutupIhateyou hard.
  24. I am for the most part in agreement with you as well. But I'm not sure about this -- I heard just yesterday that this particular school had very very good security. Short of having trained armed guards, there was no stopping him -- he basically shot his way in. They had visitor registration and locks and monitors monitoring people on their way in in all cases with no exceptions. There was no "back way in", and he didn't take it. I also found out something else, but not sure of the accuracy of this -- it seems his first murder was his mother, who had many more guns. He then used those, as well as his legally obtained ones. So the moral of that story, to me is, if you're going to own a gun, be responsible about it. Act like you own a lethal weapon and keep it secure. And teach the proper respect to your offspring, don't use them as a crutch, or as a rage-y last resort option, then your children will learn similarly.
  25. "decent" -- what's indecent about them? Brothers in Arms was considered the standard by audiophiles for a long time.
