  1. Yeah, me too, although she's in Cowboys and Aliens, so I will have seen her in something else soon.
  2. (a) I don't watch House (yet, yes I know, I need to watch them all -- I'm on ep 6 of Arrested Development, give me a fucking break) ( She looks completely different with those huge glasses © Now that you mention it, I thought it was someone I knew, and now that I know it's her, I think I subconsciously knew it was her (d) More importantly, where can I get that shirt?!?!? I don't give a fuck about Olivia Wilde, my chances with her are in the region of negative infinity. And by region, I mean the light from negative infinity will never hit my eyes in my lifetime.
  3. Finished these last night -- have to change my tune. The Lamadrid was "alright", and the Alpamanta was "off" (and I don't mean in a general way, I mean specifically this bottle was off, so would be unfair to judge without trying another bottle). I was drinking the Alpamanta first that night, and it tainted my tastebuds.
  4. http://www.break.com/index/dude-jumps-over-moving-car-2079512 Who is that, and more importantly, where can I get that shirt?

I'm such a sap for melodrama, I know, but I just love a good old school ballad. My mom used to listen to the likes of Tom Jones and Englebert Humperdink (the likes of this list), and my dad would listen to Vikki Carr and ...well, the female equivalent. Also -- someone convince that it was live. I want to think it is, because it seems to be pretty much in sync...but there's no way you won't hear the fingers on the mic. Also...it's a one-er. Wow just for that.
  6. Wanted to, looked into it, can't this weekend, totally swamped at work, and between that and trying to sell my mom's car, can't be that far away.
  7. Finished Cheat the Grave -- outstanding. She's surprised me twice, hard, in the last two books, doing things that I've never witnessed in other authors. Not quite Mira Grant/Seanan McGuire good, but still very good. But if you're bothered by nitpicks, stay away -- there are some huge ones. To me, it's worth the ride. About to start The Neon Graveyard: The Final Sign of the Zodiac.
  8. Alternately, Alpamanta estate & Lamadrid single vineyard reserva malbecs Colors are...not nice. Mean. Zombie in a b-movie mean. No, srsly, meh to both. Sent from mah Droid
  9. Ah, that black barleywine is so good, of course no-one likes it as much as I do -- I hope you do. Where'd you find it? Looks like you got the grand cru, too. And of course, the Norton Reserva.

I thought this was a nice little article on Nils Lofgren.
  13. I don't think you have to worry about anyone siding with Pat Robertson -- and in order for something to be political, there'd have to be two sides, wouldn't there? I mean, maybe a view here or there, but in general? The man was a nutter.
  14. Actually, that's exactly what I meant -- that he succeeded...in making a Pink Floyd album. I mean, "the pink floyd sound" is so rare, that even when a band has a serious Pink Floyd bent to them (Antimatter, Porcupine Tree), they sound like they have a serious Pink Floyd bent, but they don't sound like Pink Floyd, like they're trying to be Pink Floyd. Whereas aMLoR sounds like a Pink Floyd album through-and-through. Heck, he even brought the sound up to date, with the opening percussive thrums of "Yet Another Movie" and the sparse yet detailed vocoder sounds of "A New Machine". EDIT: Besides, it says, "Pink Floyd" right on it. Didn't they, like, win that particular lawsuit?
  15. "It was made to sound like a Pink Floyd album." IMHO, he succeeded.
  16. How Long? (Assemblage 23 remix), by Mesh
  17. Best. Demo reel. Evar.
  18. MLOR sounds more like a Pink Floyd album than Final Cut does, though. I mean, if you've heard David Gilmour's solo albums, it doesn't sound like a David Gilmour solo album. It sounds like a Pink Floyd album. It was David Gilmour in full Pink Floyd mode, so I don't have a problem with it being sold that way. I mean, if you didn't follow the proceedings, I'm not sure you'd be able to tell.
  19. Oh yeah, my commute is not going to suck tonight: I should mention why I posted this: the image of a hay truck on fire barreling down 66, like a redneck Ghost Rider.
  20. Ayre Acoustics QB-9. There's plenty of others -- google "USB DAC balanced", click shopping, then click <US$250, then change 250 to 300. Of the ones I'm seeing, I'd go with the Alesis IO2. The Lexicon was thought of pretty highly in its day, but its day was more than a couple years ago at this point, so I don't know if it'd still compare. I think it might.
  21. Happy birthday, bakerman!
  22. Yeah, best rock instrumental performance for that year or something. I actually really adore A Momentary Lapse of Reason. You should revisit that one as well.
