  1. That and the Police box set are really good ones. I should put them both on my iPod.
  2. With onomatopoeia and alliteration.

    ...but no tubes.
  4. I don't have a problem with that -- why would you have a problem with that? Don't you believe in the "complete overkill" school of engineering? Even given your stance of "you can't hear it", if it's not there to not here, all the better.
  5. Name your own Ubuntu upgrade! 9.10 is already named (Karmic Koala), I say: Lamentable Llama! Melancholy Marten! (I got nuthin' for en.) Opulant Ostrich! Petulant Possum!
  6. Happy Birthday!
  7. I just get the same thing over and over again. (Although yes, sometimes that trick works. Just not now. For me, anyway, using Firefox 3.0.9 on Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope.)
  8. You should try something organic. Or recycled. Or both.
  9. I was defending my citing of a couple of examples to counterpoint your: I think it's legitimate to include OOP DACs when one makes sweeping generalizations like that.
  10. I wouldn't worry about it. Some people are their gear, no matter how loudly the external voices try to drown out the inner ones.
  11. Alright, I guess I didn't realize that. How about just "very moddable", with no attempt at comparison? Basically, it's designed to be opened and mucked with. And I thought they still made the Link DAC III? Well, looking here, they still make the Nelson variant for under $1K ([radio announcer voice]1380 w/USB input![/radio announcer voice]). And besides, I don't think those Parasounds are still in production either -- I wouldn't compare apples to oranges. Do they even do 24/96?
  12. Congratulations?
  13. I'm with you on that. Not enough is just as unrealistic as too much.
  14. Didn't the Benchmark DAC1 have some internal jumpers to alter gain? Or am I thinking of something else?
  15. I don't know if I'd go that far. I've had the 1600 and the Audio Alchemy, and I kept the Audio Alchemy. It's a little more rolled off, but what it gets right, it gets righter, IMHO. I also mucho the MSB Link DAC III (which I believe I have 2 of, now), which, at the same time, has better frequency extension in both directions, and is much more moddable, to those with a DIY inclination.
  16. That's what I was trying to say!
  17. Much less the Ergo surrounder. Picture it
  18. What? Who called that? Agreed. Initially, when I first heard of it, I thought because it contained a higher sampling rate and bit depth than is used commercially in either DSD or PCM, that it was some sort of hybrid...but it's just high bit-rate PCM. And yeah, I've been having a hard time tracking down some of the papers that I've heard about. (Those last two don't appear to work -- or am I missing something?)
  19. Buh?
  20. Dell 48 hours sale is mostly over Includes 1.5T external for US$110
  21. Happy 18th, yung'un!
  22. I meant on the A10 (Justin's post).
