  1. You should try something organic. Or recycled. Or both.
  2. I was defending my citing of a couple of examples to counterpoint your: I think it's legitimate to include OOP DACs when one makes sweeping generalizations like that.
  3. I wouldn't worry about it. Some people are their gear, no matter how loudly the external voices try to drown out the inner ones.
  4. Alright, I guess I didn't realize that. How about just "very moddable", with no attempt at comparison? Basically, it's designed to be opened and mucked with. And I thought they still made the Link DAC III? Well, looking here, they still make the Nelson variant for under $1K ([radio announcer voice]1380 w/USB input![/radio announcer voice]). And besides, I don't think those Parasounds are still in production either -- I wouldn't compare apples to oranges. Do they even do 24/96?
  5. Congratulations?
  6. I'm with you on that. Not enough is just as unrealistic as too much.
  7. Didn't the Benchmark DAC1 have some internal jumpers to alter gain? Or am I thinking of something else?
  8. I don't know if I'd go that far. I've had the 1600 and the Audio Alchemy, and I kept the Audio Alchemy. It's a little more rolled off, but what it gets right, it gets righter, IMHO. I also mucho the MSB Link DAC III (which I believe I have 2 of, now), which, at the same time, has better frequency extension in both directions, and is much more moddable, to those with a DIY inclination.
  9. That's what I was trying to say!
  10. Much less the Ergo surrounder. Picture it
  11. What? Who called that? Agreed. Initially, when I first heard of it, I thought because it contained a higher sampling rate and bit depth than is used commercially in either DSD or PCM, that it was some sort of hybrid...but it's just high bit-rate PCM. And yeah, I've been having a hard time tracking down some of the papers that I've heard about. (Those last two don't appear to work -- or am I missing something?)
  12. Buh?
  13. Dell 48 hours sale is mostly over Includes 1.5T external for US$110
  14. Happy 18th, yung'un!
  15. I meant on the A10 (Justin's post).
  16. You do, but only for about 4 minutes.
  17. A Storm of Light, And We Wept the Black Ocean Within -- kind of Neurosis' Eye of Every Storm done extreme metal style
  18. You should be able to use them...from the preamp section, neh?
  19. Hippo Birdy! EDIT: Now playing: The Ocean, Cryogenian.
  20. Hmmm...so who's going to be the first to try these?
  21. No, I found that, but he mentioned two different grades of Panan Dragonwell that I'm not finding online.
  22. Cans and string beat all.
