  1. "absorb", you mean like through osmosis?
  2. Aquapet: "Squirt" It's...uh...for a friend...
  3. Hey, your birthday is only a month after Simone's...so you have that going for you... Happy B-day!
  4. [harvey keitel]Oh...we were already good.[/harvey keitel]
  5. I went through that exact same thought process once. I believe it should be belated happy birthday, because it's the well-wishing which is belated, not the birthday, which happened quite punctually, whether one was aware of it or not.
  6. We need to get her to do a side project, she does have a wonderful voice, superb song-writing skills, a delightful attitude towards music-making...plus, country already has plenty of hot chicks, we could use moar in the prog and/or psychedelic genres.
  7. It just means instead of having one item a day, they have smaller quantities of multiple items, so they put the next one up as soon as one sells out. It garners interest (last time I really regretted spending as much time as I could on the site -- ended up buying a camera and a keyboard that I didn't need).
  8. That'd be nice.
  9. Three things: 0 - Don't panic! 1 - have you ever had tube equipment before? They take a while to warm up, give them 30 minutes (monitored of course, just in case something really is wrong). They should audibly get better. 1.5 - Don't panic. 2 - reseat the tubes, just in case. Take them out, and put them back in. He didn't swap tubes on you, did he? You might just have a burned out tube. Those are easy enough to replace. 3 - Do not panic.
  10. I'll take "only twice", first one is up already.
  11. Yeah, as soon as I started to say that, I remembered that a friend of mine has one of those huge pendulum clocks. And I don't remember it ever ticking...I'll look and see what kind it is the next time I'm over there. But I do remember the movement being smooth as velvet.

  13. Yeah, I really dig that Lovesexy/whatever album. That and...uh...Robin Thicke. Okay, I didn't know who he was when I bought it, they were playing it in the store and I liked it. The end.
  14. Damn, that sounds intriguing...
  15. I might just have to do that... congreve ball clock - Google Product Search ...as soon as the economy recovers.
  16. I don't remember the O2's being dark.
  17. They're both gorgeous clocks...if I was into clocks. But the interminable ticking drives me bonkers. I don't mind one in the house, as long as it's not loud. Or are those the kind that have the fancy pendulum/gear mechanism, so they essentially don't tick? I think I'd like one of those. But what I really want is a tube clock.
  18. Meh -- I'm going to want to hear this before I get it. I've been underwhelmed with Metric's and Emily's last couple of entries.
  19. Pfff -- I'm 46 dude. Actually, if you discuss metal on a metal forum, your biological clock actually starts working reverse, if it doesn't kill you.
  20. K1000 -- about to put the check in the mail. Well, at least he made it a link, so I don't have to load the friggin' thing every time I come to this page.
  21. Hmm...ladder DAC chips...no digital filters...fully discrete... Alright, I'll change my stance, maybe this isn't such a bad idea. Back in the day, the Sonic Frontiers DAC (I don't know which one) was considered one of the best deals in digital hi-fi. Still, I'm not sure I'd be able to bring myself to do it. I like upsampling. Just for the record -- there is still a contingent of people who prefer a complete lack of digital filter, because of what it does to the phase of the signal. I've heard both (my ex still uses her ancient first CD player to this day), and it really doesn't sound that bad. There's artifacts, but you're so used to hearing the artifacts that most recent players have, that it's still kind of refreshing. Alright, here's my final advice: go with Dark Angel's way of doing things -- buy it for a price that, if you end up not liking it, you can sell it for with little to no financial loss on your part (ignoring where the market is going -- I.E. if you had to turn around and sell it today, you would only lose, say, US$100). You have to realize that when other people look at your listing, they'll probably be given similar advice, "...$900? I don't know, seems like a lot for out-dated technology..."
  22. Hey, all right, another Crematory fan -- completely under-rated band, IMHO. I love them. Oh, and I should mention I've been revisiting the "too much caffeine" band, Unexpect, and completely enjoying them. There's something about having that much variety on a per-second basis that makes them absolutely optimal for car listening. I never find myself reaching for the skip. So I played some God Forbid, Naglfar, and The Crown for a friend of mine, and he said, oh, they're alright, but you really ought to check out Gojira. OMG, these guys are like all of that blaster-beat double-bass-pedal stuff except really good. I could understand most everything the guy was singing, despite it being towards the cookie monster end of the spectrum. Other times, he reminded me of Jaz Coleman (Killing Joke) -- one of the best metal vocalists. Evar.
  23. Yeah, I'd either spend $900 on something more recent and better, or a lot less on that much older technology.
