A lot more hook-laden and alternately soft pop and hard rock than that one word would imply, but it would prepare you for the flurry of styles.

They're marketing it as a clone -- clone==reverse engineered. But your point is taken as well. I would phrase it thusly: after they reverse engineered it, they forward engineered it from there -- presumably to give them some cost-cutting options, but also maybe so that they could protect it as a different design.

If they used a different size driver, then it’s technically a different design.

I’m alright with it when the technology is long since out of the market, as is the case with many of their synthesizers, but this is ubiquitous! Grr...

Did he ever really do better than this? IMHO, this is -- far and away -- his masterpiece. I know people worship Richard D. James Album and Druqks, but nothing he did on those was as mind-blowing as this was to my 31-year-old brain (actually, probably 32 by the time I heard it, I was not exactly "in the know").
