  1. Unholy carp, this doesn't sound at all like Pearl Jam until I saw who it was -- sounded more like David Byrne era Talking Heads at first. (See below.) Gah, embedding videos isn't working for me. (EDIT: fixed below) New Katatonia song! (See below.)
  2. Was at the local pet store the other day, and, as always, I went to play with the adoptables that were on display. Went to pet this guy and he just rolled over. Almost took him home. I thought this would make a great poster.
  3. Not to derail the thread, but curious as to you all power users’ opinions on OpenOffice.
  4. I'd still switch. Just because I hate Microsoft. If the issue was formatting, the originator could've exported the file to Excel v2013 format. I don't know if there's an equivalent for functions, though. But if you do switch and run into the problem again, something to keep in mind. We actually have it set as default to save Word as .doc files and not .docx files at work to make sure no-one ever runs into compatibility issues, especially the client.
  5. https://twistedsifter.com/videos/kobe-bryant-animated-short-film-dear-basketball/ He won an Oscar! (And I have to admit, my heart leapt to my throat when he said, “...time to say goodbye...”)
  6. I love that album. What’s different about this version?
  7. Thanks, it does! I didn’t realize that about most American rye bread being mostly white and mucho caraway—I must really love caraway, because I can taste the difference and I like it. Wegmans has premade bread, an in-house bakery, and locally baked bread—their sourdough has three varieties, the miche (?) is fantastic! That’s what made me ask. Also, yes, porn/salivating.
  8. Just finished The Ten Thousand Doors of January — out fucking standing. Stories within stories, fantasy, an ode to storytelling...the author even starts the book immature and by the end is writing in a much more mature style, mirroring the character growth. Fantastic. Disclaimer: JA—not sure why so many of the books I love are JA/fantasy, but...there ya go.
  9. So if rye bread is all about the grain and sourdough bread is all about the yeast, why isn't there--or isn't there more--sourdough rye bread?
  10. Lollers at “Enough Aurelie”.
  11. Really enjoyed this set. Especially enjoyed that first track, and if I was anywhere near my computer, I would’ve smashed that ❤️ button several times.
  12. You’re happy with the picture, that’s the most important thing. You can get an aftermarket remote and program it, and it’ll be far more intuitive.
  13. He has a better violin face than some guitarists have their guitar face.
  14. Happy belated birthday, my favourite non-relative Bowie fan! (groovy, interesting party favour noise)
  15. Happy birthday! (party favour noise)
  16. Deferring on the first question—I only have access to the regular edition via Tidal, will try to track down the 30th anniversary edition to give it a listen, and compare masterings. Might ask this sort of question on the Steve Hoffman forums. Multiple: Olé ELO, A New World Record, Out of the Blue, Face the Music (in order of hearing them and immediately subsequently purchasing them in my youth. Kuiama, probably, but The Jungle is a close second.
  17. Celtic Woman, Destiny -- really pretty
  18. More importantly, what headphones are those that the bassist is wearing? They look kind of like old Fostex ones.
