Yeah, I understand that, and I’ve cut way back on the drinking, so I cut way back on the buying as well. Instead of having 8 1lb. bags going, I only have 3 or 4 1/2 lb. bags going, and only buy two at a time. (I don’t ignore all y’all’s advice.) So two of those four are usually almost done. The older coffee is going to my sister for composting.

I think you exaggerate. It probably starts losing its flavour immediately, but you think you can taste the difference at ten minutes? I call bullshit.

Moving Pictures side two is one of my favourite sides of any rock record ever. The only reason I don’t cite the whole album as my favourite is because classic rock radio kinda wore out —to me—all the big songs (including “Tom Sawyer” and “Limelight”), but “Red Barchetta” and “YYZ” are superb still. 2112 is another which is considered by many to be their best. A friend of mine recently Tweeted that it was their best “...full stop”. I love a lot of their albums—Hemispheres may be my current favourite. Although All the World’s a Stage still holds a special place in my heart because it was my first. I still want to cover “What You’re Doing” because of the version on that live album. “YYZ” and “La Villa Strangiato” are both worth a listen if you haven’t heard them.

My roastery of choice will grind my coffee beans for me. I have to remind them that it’s coarse for French press, otherwise they grind it fine for Chemex (they sell Chemex) and the like.

RIP Neil Peart. I was never inspired to play the drums by Neil Peart -- I mean, seriously, what's the point? He had already demonstrated that he's on another plane. But I was inspired to pursue things _thoughtfully_ -- he put so much thought into everything he did, that he was zen master/another plane/next level. Meticulous craftsman. I want to be that, I still do, and I am reminded of that by his passing. I will strive to better myself. New not-quite-new-year's resolution, in all pursuits.

I love the sound of analog and modulars, but the flexibility of the Wavestation/K2000 powerhouse class of synthesizers provides a nice complement. (wanders off to look up Novation Summit)

Totally dig that Wucan. Going to be listening to their albums on repeat over the next couple days. Right now, listening to a 20-artist dark ambient collaboration:

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, New Year's Eve set -- right in the middle, they play a mashup of Evil Woman and All Along the Watchtower that ... is surprisingly smooth (I think I have it linked correctly so you should go to about a minute before the song starts):

I’ve always wanted my best speakers to be omnidirectional. MBL would do. I need to set up my Gallos.

Also watched the Nikki Glaser episode of The Degenerates. She’s filthy. I like her. Just finished the new Dracula. https://newsthump.com/2020/01/04/new-power-station-to-be-powered-by-bram-stoker-spinning-in-his-grave/

Goulash 20200104 -- fucking delicious! I really like the flavours that baby zucchini, okra, and celery added. Only a smattering of meat, though -- should have put in a second packet.

His DJ sets suck so hard, though. But yeah, you’re right, I’m glad he didn’t stop there.

https://music.carygrace.com/album/lady-of-turquoise Stylistically all over the place, but if I had to pick one word to describe it, the word would be, ‘prog’. A lot more hook-laden and alternately soft pop and hard rock than that one word would imply, but it would prepare you for the flurry of styles.

Actually, the original link says it’s called the BH 770. Where did you see DT330/DT660? Oh, good, please do report back. I am very curious, myself.

Yeah, I'm no lawyer, so I'm literally doing that thing that we all hate: hypothesizing. Oh, also, persecuting, convicting, and judging.

They're marketing it as a clone -- clone==reverse engineered. But your point is taken as well. I would phrase it thusly: after they reverse engineered it, they forward engineered it from there -- presumably to give them some cost-cutting options, but also maybe so that they could protect it as a different design.
