  1. But why are you sticking a region specific voltage adapter in your ears?
  2. Can you do something a little less good next time? I've got "Aqualung" stuck in my head now. Aqualung, my friend, Don't you start away uneasy, You poor old sod, you see it's only me...
  3. So I was reading a review of the ElectroKID in a recent issue of HFN, and they said that the Krell is one of the few docks that takes advantage of the fact that the iPod actually has a the requirements for a true balanced line out (I.E. both regular and inverse signals). Is that true? Do any of the DIY cable makers take advantage of that fact?
  4. Headphones for peace!
  5. It's actually worse than that -- you don't get to see the actual new threads until you click on "new posts" again. So what I do is go back to the home page and start a new search (it's essentially a dynamically generated set of search results). If you want to bookmark anything, and keep revisiting the bookmark, I would bookmark do=getnew (note: don't go to the link and bookmark that, it auto-rolls-over to the search results, bookmark that specific URL -- I.E. if you are in FireFox, do right-click->"Bookmark this link").
  6. I've never paid much attention to lyrics. So: pfff. That said, if you want literate lyrics in a hard rock or metal band: Blue
  7. Yeah, I have their entire catalog. IMHO, it's not as good as Neon Golden, but I'm still getting it. My "golden line" is 12, Shrink and Neon Golden. The first two albums (Nook and the self-titled album) are much harder and, IMHO, not worth getting unless you're into garage and heavy metal. Make sure you hear them before you buy. Incorrect. FYI: the new Hiromi, Beyond Standard came out last week as well.
  8. It would have been amusing... Well, in my head, it was funny.
  9. It would also be amusing if StevieO's place was voted as the location without his necessarily approval. That said, I can be DD during the parties.
  10. That's very impressive, actually. Kudos!
  11. Yes. He was one of the greatest rock-and-roll screamers in the history of rock-and-roll screaming. Listen to the entire Sin After Sin, Sad Wings of Destiny, and Hell Bent for Leather albums -- the guy had range. And in answer to the original question, no, I don't know. Will let you know if I found out first.
  12. I vote for StevieO's house -- that way those of you who are staying there won't have to drink and drive.
  13. Well...most smokers do. And then they exhale.
  14. Actually, it sounds more like she's breaking them in. My cat does the same thing -- she sits in my lap, then starts to slip off so that I have to catch her, and then after I catch her, settles down so that I have to continue holding her. She was rather disappointed the one time I let her fall off, and let me know by clawing her way back on.
  15. Focal tend to have good speakers at every price point, I would definitely look there. What sort of listening space are you going to have? Nearfield? Loud? Why is there air? Floorstanders or 2.1? What is the meaning of life? Quad 12L + SVS sub OR Quad 21L would be another couple choices. I managed to snag my Shahinian Obelisks for less than a thou, but that's rare -- they usually go for more. Haven't heard, but've been meaning to: Aurum Cantus.
  16. No, we only treat the new combovers who act like complete asshats like that. There have been a few who we immediately welcomed.
  17. Sounds like an impedance mismatch -- this doesn't sound like my experience at all. I did find it detailed -- maybe not the warmest DAC I've ever heard, but nice and accurate. Of course, it was competing with a Rega Planet, whose sound I prefer to most everything else at that price range.
  18. Just 5? The dude's obviously a troll.
  19. Harbeths are supposed to be good. Glad you like, and thanks for the impressions. If you ever get the urge to try something else, you have to try something from the BBC LS3/5A lineage of speakers. And/or Quad 12L's. And I've actually managed to make mah Dynaudio Special 25's sound good in nearfield listening.
  20. I've been on a Kelley Armstrong kick -- I'm on Broken.
  21. Well, at least lay them on a scanner, spine-side-down, so that we can read them.
  22. Adorable. Thanks.
  23. Yeah, I don't buy a lot of DVD's, but I love this series.
  24. I thought this thread was going to be about the Menace. Speaking of which, I now figured out why you had a deadline after CanJam to finish that thing, and why you've eschewed taking on more projects -- it's until you have a better idea how to manage your time, which I find very responsible. I usually keep my trap shut WRT children, but since I crapped this thread, I will say: I am thinking happy healthy thoughts in your general direction.
