Sample Rate Conversion: Hardware v. Software
Only that it is a lot easier to change software algorithms to find one you like, rather than changing the hardware......

What did you do today?
When I do homebrew I bottle condition as well. But this is microbrew done at U-Brew-It. Their facilities are far better than anything I could manage at home!

HEH! Good work! No, it is actually a really elegant little setup that doesn't require heating of the beer. An empty can without a lid is placed in a dispenser, it is purged with CO2 and then filled with pre-carbonated beer. You sit a lid on, put it in the canning machine that pushes the lid down while rotating the can. A wheel pushes on the edges of the lid as it rotates and seams/seals the can. I can imagine that the beer probably won't last as well as bottled beer...... but it isn't going to last that long anyway . The big bonus of the canning is that they stack so bloody well compared to bottles. MUCH less wasted fridge space.

I bottled and canned! Started 4 weeks ago at a local microbrew. The cans are a very bitter, hoppy and aromatic pilsner. The bottles are a malty, but not sweet, dark lager. In addition to this, there are another 8 cans and 24 bottles in my main fridge

I'm with you, Smeggy. And I also propose a new motto for Head-Case based on other people's reactions: 'The only internet forum where we don't want to see your boobs'

TPA Buffalo impressions
Yeah, it is the basic casework that has kept my build cheap. The case I used is a very simple but sturdy 1U rackmount that cost me just ~US$40.

It sounds pretty bloody fantastic. But then I don't really have any high end sources to compare it to, and I may be suffering from a severe case of DIY pride. In any case, I am quite certain that this and my MMM are capable of much more than my modest AD900s are letting on.

Like I said, I'm just setting it up and not really 'using' it. But I can tell you the screen is brilliant. It feels much faster than I anticipated, and it boots and loads quickly despite the slow disk access - though I wouldn't want to do any video editing. Touchpad blows compared to my 15.4" HP, so I bought a Logitech VX Nano to go along with this..... the receiver is tiny!

I picked up one of those on behalf of my folks, and am setting up the software side of it for them. Great little piece of kit for the price! Only tiny issue is that the keyboard is a bit clunky around the arrow keys. I suspect it is more a fault in this individual computer rather than a larger fault though......

Integrated amp advice?
Yeah, a mate has got two of those NADs (HEH! nads...) around his house and they are a pretty close match to the 540Av2. And being able to manage a squeezebox in the budget..... great stuff
