It's better to use a stepdown or stepup transformer than to fry your equipment. It will be a compromise that may or may not be noticeable. If you were MUCH more specific about what it is you're trying to do, you might get a useful answer.

I own several watches in the under $200 price range that are automatics. But They're not as reliable or accurate as the quartz watches. I just buy automatics because I LIKE automatic and manual watches. If you want something that looks cool and tells good time, there's nothing wrong with a quartz watch. And of course EVERYONE judges people by appearance. That's a key survival characteristic that's been developed for thousands of years.

In high school I managed to cut my thumb with a table saw. I also managed to get just the meaty part, so no long term damage. It was a nasty cut tho, because table saws aren't dainty... I spent my day at kids' sporting events.
