Is there something that would stop your current mac from working as an audio workstation 5 or even 10 years from now? I don't get the need to upgrade something that does the task it's being used for.

there's no harm in using a solid body 1/8 to 1/4" adapter. The other way increases strain, but smaller to bigger is fine.

The second half of the show exists as an ornette coleman album somewhere too (the second half of this cd, that is). Since the first half is my favorite jazz recording so far, I'll need to keep my eyes open.
