  1. Maxed out, the volume is "0dB of attenuation". Not whatever random scale they display.

I'm perfectly comfortable considering my m3 to be high end, and it's got opamps at it's core. The apogee minidac and my m3 may be considered to be midfi by others, but any combination of gear that gets out of the way and just gives me the music is good enough for me. I hope that never stops being true.

That sounds very expensive to implement if your labor isn't free.

I should have quoted spritzer's post.

Point is, there's nothing particularly wrong with opamps in concept, so if the results sound better than other alternatives, why not use them. If they don't sound better, then who cares, not worth worrying about.

Sounds nice != nice chassis and blinking lights Isn't "sounds nice" the goal?
  7. Not the link, the text. I think it was what jude posted, but the complete text was definitely in one of the threads. It is a cool device tho. I'd be tempted once they come out with the terapod.
  8. That same press release was posted verbatim on headfi
  9. Would what be? I could care less about senn flagship headphones, so haven't read this closely.
  10. Is it because you want to be the one who gets to lose the most money on RSA amp value, so you got in on the drop early?
  11. Around a grand, which is cheaper than other comparable dac only solutions, apparently
  12. That's how I store my dvds. I have 2 drawer boxes from ikea that we've stained, and use the tyvek sleeves. I store the boxes in my basement. I store my cds on the mac, tho . mod edit: rehosted the cdbinder.com image. Their certificate expired and I was getting a warning every time I clicked this thread
  13. coupon codes from shopnbc: save10 = $10 off $199 or more save20 = $20 off $299 or more save40 = $40 off $499 or more save80 = $80 off $999 or more
  14. It's got a reportedly great ADC section, so yes.
  15. ADC quality matters more than DAC quality, because ADC quality lasts forever Get a mac mini and a duet, and you're good for needle drops and playback.
  16. Ommegang tries, as does dogfish head.
  17. I much prefer beer, but can't afford the good stuff for the most part. Not to mention they've made it a lot harder since Afflgem and Koenigs Hoeven have both gotten hard to get.
  18. Liquor is much cheaper than the beer I drink Small producer belgians are spectacular, but at $12 a bottle...
  19. Airfoil rather. But I'm a big fan of itunes anyway. I've tried most other music management suites, and I still always go back to itunes.
  20. HDTV sells slightly better than high quality soundsystems tho...
  21. Pico is more portable, more flexible, and probably has a better headamp. Duet has an ADC, firewire, mac only, can't be used stand-alone.
  22. Sorry, was thinking mini. The cubes are old as shit, and have collectors value. Not a plan for htpc.
  23. Yes, even a 1st gen g4 mini is more than enough computer to use with the duet for music serving. You should be able to score a g4 mini for under $300. Another $200 for a 750gb drive ,and you have one hell of a music server for $1000.
  24. You can make ringtones with garage band and with itunes now for free, no hacks required.
