Actually, I am going to say that if you do not really like the 650 you probably should look elsewhere than the 600. Now that is for buying, but if you have the option of a free loaner, then hell yes.
The FLACs are 24/44.1 and it does have some "extras" like videos and digital copies of original UK artwork, etc. But I agree, it does seem overpriced, especially considering that the stereo CD boxset seems to be well under $200 at the moment.
I reread my comments also and I can see how you may have taken it as a personal comment on the your specific DAC. Anyway, since you were not of sober mind last night you should fit in just fine here. Oh and just for the record, I have always been impressed with the quality and value of EE products so I will likely give your DAC a try since I am a fan of the Sabre chip.
Uh, I am and out of the box, without considering my labor it costs more than your unit. That wasn't my point. My point was that no one seems to be utilizing the full potential of the platform, it wasn't a shot at any one manufacturer. But thanks for being a condescending little prick
Yep, same here. Definitely a banner year for tricksters and treatsters. This was also the first year that the young'in was totally into Halloween. Past years we were out for maybe an hour, this year it was 3+. A great time for everyone. Happy Halloween everyone.
Hopefully someone will build a DAC using the full capabilities of this chip but it looks like most are building to a price-point and are not interested in utilizing some of the more interesting features of the chip. Really rather disappointing.
I would make sure that if you go with the PX-4 you could also utilize other 300b's. Just because it is pin compatible doesn't mean the tubes spec out the same.
I have to agree with Reks it is the implementation on both the recording (especially mastering) as well as how the playback gear is being implemented. Most disc players and DACs have really lousy output stages. Even some of the big bucks players have pretty mediocre ouput stages.
Yep, totally agree. That's why I am in "let's just wait and see mode". I'll probably spring for the Amarra demo after I at least get brave enough to open up the mini and expand it to 2Gb, which I should have done months ago.
Well if Amarra is really such a memory hog my old 1Gb Mini used exclusively as a server does not seem to be a good Amarra server. Looks like I will be waiting for the Amarra killer software also.
If the A2s are anything like the A5s they will require a little time to settle in. The A5s did not have a midbass bloom but they certainly lacked treble extension and sounded pretty flat at first. After a couple of weeks of normal play for a few hours a day I noticed that they started to sound much better in their dimensional presentation and definitely sounded clearer and more extended in the treble.
