sound dB limit for infant?
I personally think the "Mozart effect" is a bunch of BS but that's just me. Well, my music history teacher thinks the same. Listening to classical music temporarily boosts IQ or spatial reasoning? Most of the smart people I know don't listen to classical and then there's music majors.

That's my new goal in life: to become the Burt Reynolds of music. I guess Josh Bell got kinda close with that so that makes him my idol?

There's no way your baby's brain is going to grow exponentially faster causing it to become the next Einstein or Heifetz by your playing classical music before it understands it's different from just background noise.

Thanks, PMing him now. If I am reading some online chart right, the compliance is too low for the ultra low mass tonearm. Not sure how much difference it'd make, and it is a high output MC so potentially could work with MM phono stages...

Upon checking the site, it seems like the OM20 is discontinued, though they still sell replacement styli. I guess moving up would mean going to MC carts? Good excuse to upgrade vintage receivers, I suppose, though I do have a Kenwood C1 preamp with MC capability. I'm not particularly committed to anything, since I have nothing to base anything on. I don't even remember why I decided to choose buying the Dual in the first place, other than the fact that it was cheap. I think I got the TT and the cart for around $100 shipped, from Canada. Only problem is Canada Post decided it should go on a tour of Canada for a month before going south to the US and somewhere along the way broke the mechanism for adjusting pitch. Much thanks for the offer. How about I pay you some meager sum for it so I don't feel as bad?

Wow, okay. That's pretty awkward. Yeah, he's a weird one. But for some reason musicians and weirdness go hand in hand.

Did he know them? If he did, that makes sense. If he didn't, that's a little weird.

I hear he is quite.. flirtatious. With guys as well as girls. When I mentioned to my doctor that my teacher was Bell's roommate at IU, he immediately asked me if he was his "partner." At first I had no idea wtf he was talking about, then he outright asked me if Josh Bell was gay. I was so surprised, I had no idea so it came out of nowhere.

Amp/DAC recommendation for D2000 & DT990
You don't think the DT990 is too bassy in general when you prefer it out of a rolled off crappy Macbook's output than a good sounding well-respected dedicated headphone amp? You think paying $200 for a cable for more treble on your HD650 is justified when you can upgrade to a HD600 that has more treble already for less money than the HD650 alone? I give up.

Could you guys recommend some carts for my Dual 505-2, with an ultra low mass tonearm? I've got an Ortofon OM-20 in there now. Should I not bother and just get a whole new turntable with different cart? I'm pretty much a complete vinyl noob, just curious what my upgrade path would be, if I were to upgrade. Don't really listen to it enough to justify it right now, but definitely will later on.
